E-mail re: the Flowers for Murtha campaign by ActforChange
I received this in my inbox and thought if any others contributed to this, they might appreciate know the outcome of their donation:

Dear ActForChange activist,

Back at the beginning of December, we issued a call for ActForChange activists to stand with Jack Murtha, the veteran and Congressional Democrat who challenged the President and called for a withdrawal plan to get our troops out of the quagmire that is Iraq.

You responded with a generous donation - thank you! The support we received for this project was quite overwhelming - so much so that our plans for honoring the troops needed to change in response.

We contacted the Medical Family Assistance Center (MEDFAC) at Walter Reed Hospital, which supports the wounded soldiers and their families during recuperation there at Walter Reed. They informed us that while flowers would be appreciated, there are very strict limitations on where at Walter Reed these could be placed due to concerns about allergies, etc. -- and we would probably overwhelm that capacity, and many of the flowers might to go to waste.

They then mentioned that the one thing nearly every soldier there needs -- and which has not been funded in Veterans Administration budgets in recent years -- is long-distance minutes to call their family members over the holidays.

Veterans for Peace generously added in $2,000 from your extra contributions donated to this project...and on December 16th we shipped a total of 150,000 long-distance minutes to the wounded soldiers there.

Sgt. Sosin at the Walter Reed MEDFAC wrote back to us yesterday that,

"It is so gratifying to see the outpouring of affection for these men and women who serve our country so bravely. It is you, the American people, who make this country what it is and makes us all proud to be Americans."

Once again, thank you for your generous donation to this worthy project. We couldn't have done it without you!

Thank you for working to build a better world,

Will Easton

2. I think that is a wonderful idea. AnySoldier has posts of soldiers needs
and shamefully for the bush regime, many who are in combat zones not only have not been provide with armor which should be automatic government issue but they ask for blankets and boots. Please help if you can.
