...British Foreign Office's Cheney-esque tactics in the attempted silencing of former UK ambassador to Uzbekistan, Craig Murray. Particularly revolting are the Yoo-like legal contortions of one Michael Wood as he justifies the use of "intelligence" obtained via Karimov's torture chambers.

And lest any Americans feel smug about a torture scandal of which they aren't the central stars, the Brits receive the Uzbeki torture product through the CIA, who, as we all know, deal in only the highest quality intelligence.

Can bloggers really bring a government down?

Just in case you haven't heard about it, the furor over the expose of information pertaining to the use of information obtained under torture has produced a very uncomfortable situation for the lads in downing street.

For a very long list of bloggers intent on doing just that, (bringing the government down) the answer will soon be unveiled. It seems that some of the key sites publishing news of the ongoing discussion are experiencing "technical difficulties."

    6. It makes a complete nonsense of the concept of duress
If you are going to testify and your boss threatens with you with the sack if you don't testify the way he wants, that invalidates your testimony in a court of law.

If you are tortured by electric shocks and 'waterboarding' then any statement you give while being tortured, or under threat of torture, then that perfectly OK!

btw we in the west don't torture , our intelligence agents only sit in the room while the torture occurs.

    8. Kicked! Recommended! Blogged!
From my blog LiveHive where you can read the entire text of the memos.

    ==================================

LiveHive - Breaking the Silence: Bloggers Post the UK/US/Uzbekistan Torture Memos

Braving arrest, bloggers have broken the UK’s unholy law of silence with the truth about torture.

If there is no longer a free Western mainstream investigative press willing to publish truth to power, there is no shortage of brave and intrepid souls that carry the illuminating torch of freedom of speech via the Internet.

Bloggers are mass publishing the leaked UK/US/Uzbekistan Torture Memos.

These memos are evidence and memorandum of record outlining the rendition and torture of prisoners of the US, in Uzbekistan, all with the willing cooperation of the UK PM.

And these documents are heart-stopping. Read and have your breath and blindness taken away.

The memos are the correspondences of Craig Murray.

Craig Murray was the United Kingdom's ambassador to Uzbekistan.

That is Murray was the ambassador (according to BlairWatch.co.uk) until his complaints and protest at the use of intelligence gained by torture got too much for Jack Straw and the Foreign Office.

At which time Straw went "all Rovian on Murray" and set about attempting to unsuccessfully smear him in the press.

Unfortunately, Straw was able to successfully remove Murray him from office.

Yet the bloody ink of these memos stain the Bush/Blair unholy marriage indelibly.

Below find the chilling text of the memos...it's like the US and the UK were playing at making the movie "Hostel" their realpolitik inspiration. Stain upon bloody stain.

Men boiled alive...so that they would say what the US needed a "terrorist" to say...manufacturing "Orange Alerts"...stealing elections with lies and fear.

Read the memos. Then listen closely.

Can you now hear the screams of the tortured?

Can you now hear the howls from Downing Street and the White House of "Out, out damn spot!"

Can you now keep YOUR silence any longer?

READ THE UK / US / UZBEKISTAN TORTURE MEMOS
