If It Wasn't For 9/11 Would Bush Still Be President?
The right-wingers must LOVE Osama. Before 9/11 Bush was going DOWN. Then 9/11 happens and he becomes "The War President". Isn't the theory: that all incumbents win during a time of war? Was 9/11 the best thing that ever happened for this administration? Was Bush actually RE-ELECTED because he could NOT protect us from the worst attack on American Soil ever? What a horrible thought. Sorry, feeling a bit down about this.

1. I don't think so, he would have relied heavily on family values
type politics, but the war is the clincher for most people. He has them so scared with comments like "there will be a nuclear attack on american soil if Kerry is elected." Cheney said something to that effect.

I think gay marriage would have only gotton him so far without the war card.

4. 9/11 was Bush's X-Mas. He got everything he ever wanted.
"For two hours four planes flew off course and the FAA, NORAD and the Military "allowed" them to fly to populated areas of the United States. In all previous circumstances of planes going off course their radar was scrambled and they were allowed only one route to land. Obviously, in this case, their radar was not scrambled for those two hours since they were allowed to find their targets. Thousands of Americans died due to this failure. This is unprecedented."

6. I have a sneaking suspicion the anthrax mailings
would have been considerably more widespread with many more deaths, and that they'd have gotten away with blaming them on Iraq long enough for the invasion they campaigned on in 2000. This is one of the main aims of this bunch of neocon ideologues, remember, Empire in the middle east.

Whether or not the tracing of the anthrax strain to Ft. Detrick would have been published is anyone's guess.

However, given their constant bungling in all areas, their swaggering approach to foreign policy, and their total butchery of the American economy, I sincerely doubt they'd have gotten a secod term without the reliable bogeyman, bin Laden.

7. He was loosing points fast. There was the media consortium
looking into the 2000 Florida election. Greg Palast had published his report that Jeb Bush cheated in Florida. The report was due out near Sept 11, but was held off for a few more months. When it was finally released, the MSM declared that in most cases * won. However, I think that those that actually read the report said that in 20 different ways to count the ballots in Florida, Gore would have won in 18 cases. Or something like that. When the reports and lawsuits against Jeb finally came out, they admited the mistake but would fix everything - but not before the 2002 election. Originally Greg Palast had determined that 60,000 people had been illegally put on the felon list. When all the investigations were done, 90,000 were on the list illegally. 90% were Democrats and 50% were Africian Americans.

I would guess the rest of * term would have been spent arguing about who really won had not 9-11 happened.

10. That's why they haven't caught Osama yet.

They could if they really wanted to. They don't want to because they keep the fervor high while OBL is on the loose. They will, however, "catch" him at about the time the pres primaries start in '08 so as to capitalize on their achievement.

14. His ineptitude would have been exposed 4 years ago
had the towers not fallen.
He would have been run out of office before the 04 elections in disgrace and the world would be a much better place today.
They would not even had the chance to steal another election in 02 or o4.
