WASHINGTON, Dec. 6 /Christian Newswire/ -- The National Clergy Council and its affiliate Faith and Action in the Nation’s Capital will hold a joint news conference tomorrow, Thursday, December 7, at 12:00 noon, at the U.S. Capitol in Washington, DC, to announce its third annual Congressional Christmas Outreach. A Nativity scene made of two-foot high figurines will be placed on the West Steps of the US Capitol as part of the event.

The program involves hand-delivery of a Christmas package to each of the 435 members of the House of Representatives and 100 US senators. This year’s package will include two free tickets to view the New Line Cinema motion picture The Nativity. The film is a dramatization of a two-year period of Mary and Joseph's life, which culminates in their leaving Nazareth and journeying 100 miles to Bethlehem for the birth of Jesus.

The Reverend Rob Schenck (pronounced “SHANK”), president of National Clergy Council said about the initiative, “Christmas is a unique time of the year when hearts and minds are open to the life-changing story of God’s gift of salvation. Members of Congress are no different from anyone else. Our prayer is for this Christmas outreach to focus the attention of our top lawmakers on what really matters, God’s great redemption plan.”

The public is encouraged to be part of the Christmas Congressional Outreach by making a contribution to Faith and Action equal to the cost of a Christmas package for their U.S. representative and two U.S. senators which is $75. Tax-deductibles contributions can be made online at www.faithandaction.org, by phone at 202-546-8329, extension 104 or by mail to Faith and Action, 109 2nd St., NE, Washington, DC 20002.

2. Just imagine what those donations could do for Katrina victims
or the homeless, or children in poverty. These people make the baby Jesus cry.

3. Can't they afford to pay for it themselves?
I mean, for as little as they work, they are paid VERY, VERY well.

4. Would you post if AMANA gave Eid al-Fitr packages & Al-Ghazali The Alchemist of Happineness tickets?
(AMANA is the American Muslim Association of North America)

What if the local Jewish Community Center gave Hannukah gift packages and passes to their Jewish Film Festival?

And if the American Hindu Association gave some books on the history of their religion and an invitation to the opening of Ramayana?

I'm going to have to assume all these examples would bother you just as much. Or, is this just another anti-Christianity thread? Just because you don't agree with them doesn't mean they don't have the right to do what they've done.

6. "is this just another anti-Christianity thread?" Yeah, that's it.

You wasted a whole lot of time coming up with all of those groups because yes, I would complain about any group suggesting that we donate $75.00 to send a congressperson to the movies for a purely political stunt, rather than donating to the poor and hungry.
