so with all this wiretapping -- where are the war on terror victories?
so, shrub has been listening in on mrs. unblock and i when i'm out of the country on a business trip.
he was also listening in on john kerry, i'm sure.
but supposedly, he was listening in on terrorists in order to fight them.

so, after three or more years of warrantless wiretapping, which shrub insists is "essential" to the war on terror ...

... where are all the victories that resulted from warrantless wiretapping? ...

i mean, if it's all that great a tactic, you'd think we'd be foiling terrorist plots left and right. have ANY of the al qaeda "number 2" guys we've captured been the result of eavesdropping on american citizens? i doubt it.

for that matter, where are all the victories that resulted from torture? or indefinite confinement without access to lawyers?

i mean, it would be one thing if these heinous and criminal tactics actually WORKED. but it transparently falls on its face if they don't even produce the results you're supposedly seeking.

of course, we all know the REAL reason why they went warrantless -- duh, because they knew they couldn't get the warrants, which in turn strongly suggests that they knew there was no basis in security OR law for the wiretapping....

2. This is a good point that you make. I recall hearing on the news
not long ago that there has not been one conviction on terror related activities in the U.S. All of the people who were arrested right after 9/11 have either been released or, if charges were brought, it was mostly for immigration violations.

3. Well.. they May Have Prevented a Quaker Uprising
and those damn tree huggers from monitoring lumber company abuses. I mean, we can't have equality and justice in our country when so many greedy Republicans have so much money to lose.

7. Shhh! Victories are a secret.
It demoralizes the troops if they get too overconfident. Makes 'em too lazy.

8. junior lied again when he said only calls from in the us to outside
were monitored. What a shock. Lie after lie after lie. They turned the NSA loose on all domestic communications. Inside/outside/upside/downside it all went into the NSA database.

But you are right: it seems that either there is no domestic terrorist threat, or the domestic terrorists are so damn good that they never get caught.

9. The domestic terrorists are in the White House.
That's why they don't get caught.
