Lieberman, Collins set to announce new Iraq group
http://www.rawstory.com/news/2006/Lieberman_spearheads_Iraq_group_1207.html

Senators Joseph Lieberman (I-CT) and Susan Collins (R-ME) will announce tomorrow the creation of a "bipartisan consultant group" of chairmen and ranking members of Congressional committees "to facilitate government process affecting Iraq," RAW STORY has learned.

Information released by Lieberman's office did not indicate whether the group would include chairmen and ranking members of committees in the House of Representatives, but RAW STORY has learned that the invitation is to be extended to Senators only.

The announcement comes the day after James Baker and Lee Hamilton released the eagerly awaited Iraq Study Group report to a lukewarm reception from observers and politicians alike.

RAW STORY is currently attempting to confirm which Senators have been invited to the meeting and which of those plan on attending.

18. oh no
Sorry. I forgot. Israel can do no wrong and our foreign policy goals should be directed in their interests, and not our own.

Thank you for continuing to remind me of this truth

9. Lieberman was credited with creating "The Dept of Homeland Security"
...in pro-Lieberman editorials this year.

Given the handling of Katrina, that is nothing to be proud of, though.

8. Janeane Garofalo has more credibility on Iraq than they do.
Garofalo said, "If we do this, we're doomed."

Senators Joseph Lieberman (I-CT) and Susan Collins (R-ME) voted for the Iraq War Resolution.

20. Well, it is bipartisan - including a Dem would make it tripartisan.
Which would be good, putting aside that these two pro-illegal war fucks are useless on this issue.

12. Lieberman alone can't make anything "bipartisan" anymore.
He's no longer a Democrat.

21. Correct.
HE IS NO LONGER A DEMOCRAT.

This fact must be repeated, again and again. He is not a member of the Democratic party.

13. screw them...
I was watching C-Span for a while today, and some of those R's are starting to let fly about their new-found distaste for dead American soldiers. I guess they got the go ahead. Too much more of this kind of behavior, and Joe is going to become even less in stature than he is now.

17. Lieberman proves who he is in bed with!
This Tuesday, Loserman said he opposes a "politically motivated withdrawal" of troops in the Iraq war of aggression.

He is sounding more and more like a rethug operative. Too bad we have to pay so much attention to him!:puke:

19. Joe wants a podium to keep himself on the Sunday talkies.
He's a pompous ass whose only purpose for establishing this committee is to give himself a higher profile in the new Congress. Sue won't get a word in edgewise...this is Joe's show.
