What is the change that you want to have come?
Edited on Fri Dec-08-06 09:13 PM by pooja
Ideas, thoughts, and dreams flow on this board. Anger, good intentions, information, politics, and active movements flow from our minds, through our finger tips, and into the world. Discussion is good. Listening is ideal. Forming a better world is the goal.

We seem so able to discern the talking head blather of the moment. We watch the news, search the internet, and keep connections open to stay in touch with the realities of the world. Things have been wrong in the United States for a while. People were disillusioned and lied to in order to do things in the name of our country that were and are wrong. But this isn't new. The history of man is full of strife. The strong against the weak. The weak uniting and becoming the strong. One group against the other. One idea better than another. One way better than another. Where are we? What are we doing to one another? We are one race, and yet in the name or religion, politics, sex, color, and nationality, we slaughter one another.

I am posting a message for all of you. I am putting the sparks of a dream, a prayer, and a wish from me through my little fingers tapping away on symbols that create words that communicate to you. AND that communication to you is that we need to embrace everyone. Believing in love, peace and humanity is not an abstract ideal, it is to be practiced. Revenge and imposing humility is empty. It is hollow and useless. It is not embracing and uniting, but hateful and dividing.

Many people's in the world are suffering in the name of the United States. Many are within our own country and many more are outside of our boarders. Their lives are enslaved, their lands are monopolized, and their traditions are annihilated. Hatred is brewing. The wronged will want revenge and what they believe is owed to them. The weak become the strong and the retribution for the atrocities that they suffered expound in the punishment they seek.

Can we begin healing? Can we begin loving and embracing our human race? Can we be the change we want to be?

1. An exceptional post
You've laid out the spiritual and utterly non-secular challenge ahead after all these years of anger and frustration.

We need justice, clear, Constitutionally-mandated justice. Vengeance is a shallow luxury, a greasy morsel of bone to gnaw on until it chokes us. And we need a better direction for the future we are being thrust into so quickly. So many of the pitfalls and deadfalls ahead are of our own making, or came to be because too few spoke up and too many nodded their numbed assent to the hellward drift.

At its best, DU exemplifies clear-mindedness and community, a civic sense the great political minds of Greece and Rome would have solemnly approved. The rest of the time, there's enough anger and frustration left over from this Dark Age waning that we gleefully piss on each other's ideas, each other's candidates, each other's mores and convictions.

It's time to recalibrate all the energy in that anger and frustration toward addressing change, change as meaningful and expeditious as we can achieve. Or try to achieve.

2. Thank you, I'm glad to see you took the time to read my thoughts.
It seems at times, anything that comes from Fox news or was stated from the right is jumped on...even its something we all might agree on. Lynn Cheney has been decimated. Coulter is continuously harped on. And Bill Clinton is glorified, when I believe he did make mistakes and even he can admit he made mistakes. He is a man, not a god.

I watched 60min this week. Its my normal ironing the clothes day, so I listen as I iron. There was a woman on there from Rawanda(sp). She and 6 other women trapped themselves in a small bathroom for 6months in order to survive. Her family was killed. And yet, when she met the man who killed her family, she forgave him. The reporter kept asking whether she wanted revenge. She said it was shallow. He kept probing her "wouldn't it feel better". And she said no. Its time to end the pain and suffering. I do not want revenge. I don't want these things to happend to my country or anyone ever again. Powerful words. The world needs to take and admire people like this... they are the true heros of this world.

3. Within You, Without You
George Harrison

We were talking
about the space between us all
and people who hide themselves
behind a wall of illusion
never glimpse the truth
then it's far too late
when they pass away

We were talking
about the love we all could share
When we find it
to try our best to hold it there
with our love, with our love
we could save the world
if they only knew

Try to realize it's all within yourself
no one else ca make you change
And to see you're really only very small
and life flows on within you and without you

We were talking
about the love that's gone so cold
and the people who gain the world
and lose their soul
They don't know, they can't see
Are you one of them

When you've seen beyond yourself
then you may find
peace of mind is waiting there
And the time will come
when you see we're all one
and life flows on within you and without you
