My friend is interviewing Jason Leopold thursday - what should he ask him?
This guy I know has a local access cable show and Jason Leopold is stopping by on Thursday for an interview. I mentioned that I was familiar with Jason and Truthout.org and he wanted to know what kinds of questions he should ask. Personally, I'm not sure what to ask but I'm positive that many here have some good questions.

Anyone have good questions to ask Jason Leopold about? State them here and I'll pass them along.

Thanks.

4. Do you think you jumped the gun on the Karl Rove Story?
Do you think maybe that story was worth double checking before you ran with it?

6. Please ask --
If Truth Out intends on keeping election reform a top priority.

The structure is still in place for massive fraud and it appears fraud did take place in elections around the country. Some statisticians have found that the Democratic win should have been even bigger on Nov. 7th.

We fear that just because Democrats won both Houses, some might not concern themselves with election reform anymore. Democrats won because of high voter turn-out and unrelenting citizen oversight.

Without election reform, Democrats could lose power in two short years.

Edited on Mon Dec-11-06 02:09 PM by tridim
For the record I believe Leopold was told Rove was indicted, and he simply reported what he was told. There's no conspiracy, it's just a case of Occam's Razor.

I'd also like to know what happened and why/if he was lied to, but I'm not going to beat up on Jason for doing his job.

14. I won't give it a rest.
He is a hack. He plagiarized, stole, and made up sources at his other jobs as a "journalist." It takes no skill at all at internet searching to come up with those very true facts. Then, when he does it again, people like you think we should "just let it go."

Why is calling a hack a hack a bad thing? I know we all WANT Rove to be indicted, but that doesn't stop Leopold from being full of shit.

17. If it weren't this issue,
would you still think the same way.

If you hired someone who had previously plagiarized and fabricated sources (don't know why you would, but that is another scenario) and they did something that made it look like they had done so again, would you believe them or think that it was just more of the same.

I tend to think it is more of the same unless they can prove otherwise. Which they haven't.

And if this were a conservative "journalist" "breaking" a story about liberals, would you be so nice to them and give them the benefit of the doubt?

Edited on Mon Dec-11-06 03:33 PM by QuestionAll...
and the wicked are the ones who dare not pay attention to the expiry dates.

point is, Jason Didn't do his job, if he were a journalist. Sure, things can go wrong, etc., stories unfold differently than anticipated. Who doesn't appreciate that. The fact that he just assumes this will blow over without much of an explanation from him is just Bloody Nerve. this could have gone away months ago if there some kind of apology, explanation, something human and forgivable.

but NO. It's the Unrestful Dead Horse Beaters that are in question now.

19. He still maintains that he reported what his sources told him..
and as far as I know Will Pitt still supports him as well. Why should he apologize for something that's out of his control?

Regardless, that's not my point. I'm just sick of the "24 business hours?" joke that some people here think is so damned clever. Will they still be using the same line 6 months from now? A year from now? 6 years from now?

21. yes, I was initially sick at the use of that stupid 24 business hours line when it was
first delivered.

still don't know wtf it means and no one is big enough to explain it.

It IS a joke, a so called journalist using that kind of nonspeak idiotcy to cover his ass.

No. If people on here let go of speaking of Leopold as some sort of journalist, I will never speak of him again, either. I promise.

23. Or...
no doubt you were misled about Rove's indictment. Why are your sources still protected-when truthout and yourself assured us that they would be revealed if the information was fraudulent?

25. Becuase like many people you'll support anybody who tells you what you
want to hear. There's nothing particularly noble in that, and even less in berating people who are asking the obvious questions.

tridim: "I'd also like to know what happened and why/if he was lied to, but I'm not going to beat up on Jason for doing his job."

Journalists are lied to every day. They have to confirm sources. If Jason Leopold was "doing his job" he would have held on to the alleged "leak" until he could confirm it. And he would have evaluated the reason why he received that information - who gained, who lost, based on it.

13. How exactly can you get a job in journalism
when you prove on a minimum of three very visible occasions that you are nothing more than a hack and liar?

And a follow-up:

If plagiarism is journalism, can he get you a job somewhere playing "Internet-cut-and-paste"?

can you report? A year? A decade? What if you take a protein supplement? Does that increase your timeframe at all?

is of no interest to me. He'd lied before and he (at the least) didn't do his job on the Rove indictment - he didn't confirm his sources.
