Jon Astley's I AM THE ANIMAL: So relevant
Jon Astley's 1987 debut record included the hit JANE'S GETTING SERIOUS. This is a stellar track.
I am reminded that this is the way we've been living in America for at least the past 6 years.

I am the Animal
The sole protector of life
I’ll keep the people happy
By telling them lies
The disenchanted
Will never get in my way
I have them covered, and
No one will hear what they say.

They will not harm you,
If they want to survive
‘Cause if they touch you,
I will cut them all down to size.

This is my house.
This is my country.
This is my kingdom.
Come see my army.
This is my army,
And I am the Animal.

See all her audience,
watch them squirm in their seats.
No saving graces
Staring in the face of defeat.
If you are going places,
We’ll give you a ride.
I promise everything,
Then we will milk you dry.

I am a success,
I work at it round the clock.
I’ll go the country
As we go to the dogs.

This is my house.
This is my country.
This is my kingdom.
Come see my army.
You are my army,
And I am the Animal.
