Because you have people like this running the war planning:

Insurgent areas need to be decimated. What Tokyo and Dresden and other German cities faced must be repeated in Iraq.

1. We aren't winning because the basic premise for attacking Iraq was wrong!
There has been a major insurmountable divide between Sunni, Shia and Curdfor 1,000 years! To try to fix it is simply never going to happen! The idea of installing democracyin that region is even MORE FLAWED! The culture in that region is based on their religion, and democracies aren't!

Simply put, we are losing because we started a fight that can't be won.

3. "installing democracy" is an oxymoron.
Sort of like "naturally bleached blonde".

You can't arbitrarily introduce it.

4. The idea of installing democracy is flawed.
It is arrogant idiocy to start with. We have no right to install any form of government on another nation.

5. Its not because of Religious differences....
You started out good... that the basic premise was wrong... but you basically
blame the people of Iraq of not accepting * idea of democracy at the end of a gun!

Again, I say Sunnis and Shiites were intermarried at a rate of approx. 30 - 40%...
They were not waiting in the wings to kill each other off.

6. If that's you think I said, I failed in stating my position.
There should be NO support for * idea at all!

I was talking about the different beliefs of the Sunni v/s the Shiits. I actually took the time to research what they are fighting about.

It stems back to the death of Mohammud.

The Sunni believe that the successor to Mohammad should be his friendand part of his group-Abu Bakr.

The Shiits believe his successor should have been a direct relative like his cousin or son in law.

One group simply will not recognize the leadership in the other.

I fault Shrub for foolishly trying to inject HIS desires into the middle of this conflict! It's just plain nuts!

I don't fault the Iraqi's for not accepting from the West. That is their decision andwe should have kept out noses out!

I detest religious wars anywhere. Look at the mess religious differences have made here in the US! Well, at least we aren't killing each other. I really wish the Sunni's and the Shia could work out some sort of live and let live deal and have a relatively peaceful life in the ME, but it MUST be THEM who work it out, no outsider, and especially not Shrub!

7. This Conflict was not going on before we started it...
You stated:

Middle of what conflict????..... There was no conflict, no war....

They always had differences, but they were not killing each other.....before we
started this RW shit.

8. That's true, but I've read that it wasrelatively calm because
Sadam kept the minority under his thumb of threats and murder is anyone disagreed with him. i have to question wether that's living together peacefully.

that you cannot win against a leaderless resistance.
