Where the FUCK was Repub. Sen. Smith? - Iraq "may even be criminal"
Wow, here's a profile in courage. Republican Senator Gordon Smith, Oregon said that the Iraq war "may even be criminal" - he referred to it as "almost criminal" on Matthews last night. Look at him in action. Video here at "Think Progress"

Thanks a lot Senator Smith and all those Republicans who joined lock step behind * and his mad men and women who LIED US INTO IRAQ. Here's some DEATH SQUAD ACTION, a crime!!!

You will never convince me that anybody believed that the "metal rods" which proved a Saddam nuclear program was ever believed by ANYBODY. Why, because the Department of Energy debunked that theory at the time and I read about it then. So THANKS A WHOLE BUNCH SEN. SMITH. I'M GLAD YOU FINALLY GOT SMART...RE-CALL THE HYPOCRITE AND ALL THE OTHER HYPOCRITES WHO SUPPORTED THIS WAR NON STOP & LETS ALL

IMPEACH BUSH

Maybe Sen Smith missed this film by Robert Greenwald, Uncovered, The Whole Truth by Robert Greenwald http://tinyurl.com/ykq9gg">LINK

Sen Gordon Smith: I, for one, am at the end of my rope when it comes to supporting a policy that has our soldiers patrolling the same streets in the same way being blown up by the same bombs day after day. That is absurd. It may even be criminal. I cannot support that any more. I believe we need to figure out not just how to leave Iraq but how to fight the War on Terror and to do it right.

AND SURELY SENATOR SMITH MISSED THIS EXPLICIT VIDEO AND WRITTEN REPORT FROM iTV's DEBORAH DAVIES ON IRAQI DEATH SQUADS KILLING THOUSANDS AND THOUSANDS AND FULLY KNOWN TO OUR GOVERNMENT.

From written and video reporting: Iraqi's Death Squads
Deborah Davies, iTV, Iraq

A hundred dead bodies a day

Up to a hundred bodies a day are found dumped on waste ground and rubbish tips around Baghdad. They've usually been dreadfully tortured. Acid and electric drills are the favourite methods and many of the bodies are still wearing police handcuffs.

Snip

And it's all happening under the eyes of US commanders, who seem unwilling or unable to intervene. These are the chilling findings of a special investigation, filmed for a Channel 4 documentary, The Death Squads that reveals how one of the most senior ministers in Iraq's new administration stands accused of presiding over a campaign to torture, maim and execute his enemies. And this is the dossier that utterly explodes the myth that peace and a liberal democracy are blossoming in the new 'liberated' Iraq.

Snip

He took a series of astonishing photographs through his rifle sight showing what happened. 'They were forced onto their knees, beaten with rubber hoses,' he remembers, 'The beatings got more severe, a metal bar was used and they were beating the soles of their feet'. When he thought some of the prisoners might die, Kevin alerted his unit and American troops turned up to stop the torture. But an hour later US Headquarters ordered them to withdraw and leave the prisoners to the mercy of their captors. As far as Kevin knows, most of the prisoners were later moved to an official prison but only after they were beaten again.

Snap

A few months later, when groups of Sunni men began to be kidnapped, murdered and their bodies dumped in the same spots every day, Gerry Burke tried to organize a surveillance operation to catch the killers. But the ordinary Iraqi police officers he was working with were too terrified to co-operate. 'They believed the perpetrators were members of the police who would have killed them in retaliation for investigating it'.

He's taking his time because the dying in Iraq don't bother him. Common folk don't register in Bush's wealthy brain.

And I'll do penance, that's for sure, by watching reruns of this:

Clowing around while preparing to announce some death and destruction

Can you imagine?

No more moderation or political sensitivity. Anyone who isn't up on their seats in Congress w/in the next two - three months has a lot of explaining to do, regardless of the party. Smith might be there, with the "criminal" piece. I hope so. Bush is the "messenger of death."

14. He's so twisted he gives "deviant" a bad name.
We're running out of words. "The horror" is all used up, "deviant, appalling, disgusting, mad, sinister, vile" ... what words will be left. I suspect none to match what we're already finding out. Sen. Smith looked into the abyss and the abyss looked back. Such a shame...there will be a virtual march through the destruction caused by * and company. And people will have to deal with that ... or, more likely not. I'm an optimist though. I'm sure the whole Bush crew will convert, very publicly to secular humanism and throw themselves on the mercy of the court...in Paraguay.

7. Right...a big opportunity for someone with time - a documentary of their support
prior to the war that is turned to an eternal film loop on the net...like the eternal flames they have here and there...keep it 24-7...That would be a constant reminder to people like McCain that there are real consequences for being a proponent of death and destruction.

:hi: What a way to start the day. But it's always a pleasure to see Negraponte at 7 am isn't it.

I felt a twinge of self reproach when I believed that he'd just to to Iraq and do what he did in Honduras...how could I think such negative thing about a human being.

I should have felt bad. Look at all the death he's able to produce, just leaving Central America in the dust. I underestimated him.

22. Hey, I'm straight edge;)
Better get back to NOLA, in a hurry!

And I have one more thing to say, and I mean it because I saw that pig Darrell Duke on CNN yesterday, the guy my guy beat. After he beat Duke, the man below warned the entire nation that the forces of fascism were coming at us and we better get ready. I want to get a hold of that video from election eve. You can see that Edwards had confronted the beast, up close (since Duke won or came close to winning the white vote in Louisiana) and very personal.

To convict Truthless Leader and Darth Cheney aka Chimpy and Deadeye Dick.

When the hearings started on Nixon and the public saw how criminal his administration was, R's started jumping ship.

When it became apparent that Nixon would be impeached and convicted, he chose to resign.

8. Smith is an Oregon senator
I want to see go away the next time he runs. He has evolved since his son has committed suicide, but he is still a clueless Mormon rich boy, out of touch with the people of Oregon, the United States and the rest of the world.

In fact, since Wayne Morse, Oregon hasn't had any senator remotely worth his salt.

of our soldiers and those, what 450 to 600 thousand Iraqi citizens killed as a result of the war?

That guy! Seriously, I remember him endorsing everything Bush, smugly. So pruned to be part of the new morality. What the heck was that about? The "morals voters" - a myth for our time.

The thing that is most aggravating about these folks was their certain knowledge about the charade that was the justification for this war...the fabric of lies. Yet they voted for it. Just like that party hardy torture bill that stripped habeas corpus. It passed with some surprising votes, all up for reelection. Unless the people continue to lead, which I think we will, these folks are going to start staring at walls and dreaming of junkets and ear marks. Whenever I hear "ear marks" I think of a bag
of dried pig ears. I wonder what association I'm making

21. krypto courage. upend those bushel baskets!
where was smith a month ago? where was his outrage in oct2005 when people solemnly observed the 2000th dead soldier in Iraq?

i wish for good news. and i suspect good news lurks in those 49 or 50 seats on the right hand side of the senate. how many others are fed up just about to their craw, and once that final morsel tops off the gullet, more heroes will emerge? right now, like smith had, these good men and women of conscience are hiding their light under a bushelbasket. that's what i hope.

recommended.

same through my cynicism. Didn't Orson Welles make this comment about the Red Scare in the movie industry:

"In Europe people turned in their friends to save their lives, in Hollywood they did it to save their swimming pools."

I think there a lot of swimming pools on the line here. The fact that Smith would even consider this means that it is worse than even we imagine. The "right stuff" right wingers will all have to make haste for the nearest middle ground to look just reasonable enough to avoid joining * in Paraguay.

But that's just me at 9:50 am, an hour at which no one should be awake.

24. We have to just face facts.
Some of these people at the highest ranks of power in our country are EVIL. They don't really care about anything but power and/or money. The REAL world issues don't get through their filtering system. They willingly live on a magic sled of priviledge, flying above the rest of us, where they don't have to *waste their beautiful minds* on images and statistics that are bloody, unpleasant and show the horrific nature and actions of the United States.

He may sound like he's seen the light, but it's just CYA.

29. Really, what IS their major malfunction?
I'm sick of denial:

- denial of impending doom in the environment, well documented too...nobody talks about it;
- denial that we stand by in some perverse stance of real politic and let death squads emerge
form the government we control;
- denial that there were NO NET NEW JOGS through 2005 in the private sector, none...
- denial that * and company, that means Republicans torture and kill people, have done so, by not
allowing stem cell research - torture and kill by causing their suffering through withholding
the ability to research.

So, as they say Merry F'ING Xmas...we live in a stat of DENIAL.

No treatment needed, JUST A MESSAGE, - HEY, WAKE UP, GET OVER IT!!! OUR LIVES AND THOSE OF OUR CHILDREN ARE AT STAKE!!!!!
