Wow, here's a profile in courage. Republican Senator Gordon Smith, Oregon said that the Iraq war "may even be criminal" - he referred to it as "almost criminal" on Matthews last night. Look at him in action. Video here at "Think Progress"

You will never convince me that anybody believed that the "metal rods" which proved a Saddam nuclear program was ever believed by ANYBODY. Why, because the Department of Energy debunked that theory at the time and I read about it then. So THANKS A WHOLE BUNCH SEN. SMITH. Sen Gordon Smith: I, for one, am at the end of my rope when it comes to supporting a policy that has our soldiers patrolling the same streets in the same way being blown up by the same bombs day after day. That is absurd. It may even be criminal. I cannot support that any more. I believe we need to figure out not just how to leave Iraq but how to fight the War on Terror and to do it right.

Up to a hundred bodies a day are found dumped on waste ground and rubbish tips around Baghdad. They've usually been dreadfully tortured. Acid and electric drills are the favourite methods and many of the bodies are still wearing police handcuffs.
