Snow Falsely Claims Americans Trust Bush More Than Incoming Congress

In Tuesday’s press briefing, a reporter asked White House Press Secretary Tony Snow whether he believes the American public would support President Bush’s potential plan to send more U.S. troops to Iraq. Snow said that Bush’s “way forward” will “address a lot of the concerns that the American public have,” and called on Congress to endorse whatever it will be:

"The other thing is that there is an opportunity here, also, for Democrats and Republicans
to work together; whatever the discontent may be with the President, the level of confidence
in Congress is even lower.
And what you have is a sense of crisis of confidence in government.
And this is an opportunity for…the legislative branch and executive branch to work together."

Snow is wrong, according to a new Washington Post-ABC poll:

– 57 percent trust the incoming Congress “to do a better job coping with the main problems the nation faces.” Just 31 percent trust Bush.

8. When the history of this....
...mindless git is written it will be an afterthought, a period of temporary insanity on the part of 50.1% of the American people to vote for this Little Monkey. In a way, the small simian may have galvanized the nation to greater heights because of the collective realization that we need good people for our nation to survive not scumbag fuck ups.

15. That's the outgoing REPUBLICAN CONGRESS
that Americans hold in as much if not more contempt as George W Bush, mostly because they are REPUBLICANS who have been doing BUSH's bidding.

You twisted little liar, Tony.

16. Snow's a liar, just like everyone else who works for Smirk
and all the GOP talking heads. It was the LAST Congess that no one trusted. And since it contained Delay, Foley, Allen, Hayworth, and 30 other criminals who have been kicked off the public payroll, they had good reason to.

17. That would be called a "weasel"
on the multiple-Peabody Award Winning "Wait, Wait Don't Lie To Me". It is technically true. the other day some poll showed 16% approval for Congress right now vs. like 31% for Bush. Clearly the 84% disapproval of Congress is THIS Congress, not the incoming one.

19. That's interesting. Wonder how he explains why most people
voted Democratic in the last election, and 70% want Bush to pack his bags and head for Crawford. Tony Snow is an asshat.

22. I interpret it differently.
To me he is saying that right now Congress has lower numbers than the president. The 110th Congress is what he is referring to when he talks about an opportunity for Democrats and Republicans to work together, and it's also an opportunity for the legislative and executive branches to work together.
