I'm beginning to have a jeckell/hyde reaction every time he opens his mouth. If a bug gets into our house, I carry it outside. Yep - good old pacifist I am. Then I see him and want to... never mind.

3. Gates just said, "We cannot afford to FAIL in the Middle East."
More dead soldiers are now guaranteed.

4. Why is it that when I hear a politician say "we can't afford..."
... I know that means an increase in federal spending. When I hear anyone else way "we can't afford..." it means less spending. That's about the most entrenched double-speak I can think of.

7. He should send all those "WE" people over there then...
and bring the troops home. He can start with the bush twins. All pukes should register to go.

I think the only way to convince the Right and the military to withdraw is to emphasize that we haven't failed. We set out to remove Saddam from power and we did so. Now let's let the Iraqi's build their nation. If they see it this way, there's no impetus on their part to stick around and hope things turn around just so their past decisions are vindicated.
