Poll question: Nothing causes as much pain and anguish as smoking
Edited on Tue Dec-19-06 05:34 PM by Kelly Rupert
threads. Seriously, these smoking threads are out of control. Back and forth, the same thing over and over again. Nonsmokers don't like smoke. Smokers want nonsmokers to leave them alone. Jesus, guys, we finally win an election, and our top priorities are smoking, rescue missions, and circumcision.

Criminy. This is ridiculous. Obviously we simply can no longer get along, and will have to split into Smoking Rescuing Circumcising Democratic Underground, Nonsmoking Rescuing Circumcising DU, Smoking Noncircumcising Rescuing Democratic Underground, Nonsmoking Noncircumcising Rescuing Democratic Underground, Smoking Nonrescuing Circumcising Democratic Underground, Nonsmoking Nonrescuing Circumcising DU, Smoking Noncircumcising Nonrescuing Democratic Underground, and Nonsmoking Noncircumcising Nonrescuing Democratic Underground. It's tragic, but it seems it's necessary.

We need a multi-state system, with a loose federal government and shared "progressive cred" revenues. Barring that, I'm afraid we need a complete pullout. The situation is now far, far beyond anyone's control. It's grave and deteriorating, and every day we stay we're making things worse. It's over. We lost.

...so.

Am I the only one, or does everyone else love ?

5. And childish, too. I mean, really, would anyone smoke if they could just wave a magic wand and be
free of the addiction, the desire, to smoke? I rather doubt it.

The whole excoriation of these unlucky addicts is a bit meanspirited and certainly intolerant, to my mind. The demonization of those unfortunates caught in the grip of a brutal master is certainly not 'progressive' either. Much of the language I read reminds me of the attitudes in the old days when alcoholism was considered to be a 'moral' failing and one could simply go on the wagon/take the pledge and stop without any support system or assistance.

Heroin addicts get more compassion here...!!!

8. Now that is a beautiful sight to behold
and I've got news for all of us. We're all going to Die. Some sooner than others. I'm for enjoying what I have left, be it from lung cancer, an accident or whatever. Stress is the biggest killer I know of. Can't we all just get along? :)
