Do you realize that a lot of people who are saying increase the
military are actuallysayig they want to increase the size of the active duty troops and NOT the increase in Iraq?

I agree with them. Rummy has privatized so much of the military duties and cut the active duty force to below the bare minimum. The people who are still there are severly over worked and of course underpaid. We really do need to increase the size of our military as long as we are planning to be the world police

active duty military and not increast the additional troops im Iraq? Rummy reduced the force size so much, the people who are still there are severly overworked and underpaid!

1. smokescreen. . .
muddy the water.... confuse people about the nature of the discussion, after all.. Who would be against having a robust military available for emergencies? (Only traitors, obviously)

Don't let them subdivide and blunt the objections to escalation..!

2. Many people believe
in depositing money in their bank accounts. It doesn't make much sense to do so when Jesse James is inside the bank, robbing it.

3. If for a nanosecond I thought Smirky gave an obese rodent
hindquarters about the welfare of the troops and the state of readiness of the armed forces, I would agree. However, that would imply he has a grip on reality and a concept of others.

This is a creature who let a major American city drown. This creature wanted a brain dead woman kept 'alive' for political credit. This creature giggled about another woman begging for her life. This creature lies like cheap rug.

He will pound those extra troops down the hell hole of war.

combat troop strength in Iraq by 15,000 - 30,000 were in fact calls for an increase in non-combat troops elsewhere and not for an increase of 15,000 - 30,000 combat troops in Iraq. Do you have any evidence that your assertion is true?

7. Bush wants to increase size of U.S. military
http://www.iht.com/articles/2006/12/20/america/web.1220military.php

WASHINGTON: President George W. Bush said Tuesday that the United States should expand the size of its armed forces, acknowledging that the military had been strained by the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan and would need to grow to cope with what he suggested would be a long battle against Islamic extremism.

Speaking in an interview with The Washington Post, Bush did not specify how large an increase he was contemplating or put a dollar figure on the cost. He said that he had asked his new defense secretary, Robert M. Gates, to bring him a proposal, and that the budget he unveils at the beginning of February would seek approval for the plan from Congress, where many members of both parties have been urging an increase in the military's size.

In interviews on Tuesday, administration officials said the president was speaking generally about the broader campaign against terrorism and was not foreshadowing a decision on whether to send additional troops into Iraq in coming months in an effort to stabilize Baghdad. Any big change in the size of the American military would take years to accomplish.

This isonly one reference, but I have heard fromGenerals & active duty, thatRummy believed in a lean mean military, and has reduced the number of active dutyto an unsustainable size. The amount of work hasn't gone away, thework day has just gotten longer!

...of the current Crackhead In Chief?

That is the real question here.
