A random act of kindness
Yesterday, I got a card in the mail and return address just said 'Us'. So I'm saying to myself, 'who the heck is Us'? I opened the card and inside it is filled with notes and signatures. Okay, who the heck is this from? So I looked at the names and I don't recognize any of them but these people all seem to think my husband and I are just the most wonderful people.

Then I started putting 2 + 2 together.

About a month or so ago someone mentioned on a thread that the troops in Iraq needed t-shirts.

My husband and I own a screenprinting company. We print a line of wildlife and natural history art shirts. Because we do a lot 'testing' to get the images right, we end up with lots of 'dud' t-shirts. Lot's. There is nothing wrong with these shirts, except that the have multiple designs printed all over them.

The next day I mentioned it to my husband and then forgot about it.

A few days later I find out we're sending shirts to Iraq. Cool! It turned out that one of our crew has a relative whose a Medic in Iraq. When someone gets wounded, of course there is usually a fair bit of blood involved and they have to throw away anything with blood on it, including your clothes. Has a result many of the wounded troops don't have anything to wear sometimes. The dud shirts are just the thing, because they can wear them once and throw them away.

Then we found out that the employees at Boeing had taken up a fund to pay for the shipping charges. It turns out 'Us' were the folks at Boeing thanking us.

So because someone on DU said something to someone, who said something to someone else, who said something to someone else, all of this happened.

Sometimes something happens that makes you realize it's still all worth it.

And if this atheist can make the comment, THIS is what a true ritual celebration during the darkest time of the year is all about. Bravo to you.

5. Sometimes, the greatest acts of kindness are the ones that don't seem
important to you, but are greatly appreciated by others. You did a wonderful thing!!!

6. That's the funny part
"I" didn't do hardly anything.

It was definitely a group effort and I just a link in the chain.

8. When I read stories like this, I think of the vast resources
moron* and his room full of dopes have completely wasted when they tell us to go "shop".

Thank you and to everyone that was involved.
