George W Bush has only one goal remaining...
Edited on Thu Dec-21-06 12:56 PM by kentuck
And contrary to reports, he does have a "plan". His "plan" is to expand and continue this mess until the next person takes over the helm. Then, as always in his life, he will have an elaborate excuse of why it was somebody else's fault that Iraq was lost. That's his modus operandi.

If the Congress agrees to more troops, they will be creating only a bigger mess to clean up after George Bush departs. In my opinion, they should inform him to start withdrawing troops immediately. And they should start with the Green Zone first of all. Give Baghdad back to the people that it belongs to...

1. Not to mention once he's out of office, he'll go around on
lectures, criticizing the way the war is being managed (more likely if it's a democratic administriation), leaning on his role as "senior statesman".

3. Don't you have to be a statesman to do that?
I can't wait to see who will hire BushCo to speak about anything beyond brush-clearing in Crawford.

11. The people who will hire Bush to speak are the same 33%
(or fewer) who still support him and this mess he's gotten us into. They would rather continue to support him than to admit that he has been a disaster for our country and that they made a mistake in voting for him. They share his mindset.

Welcome to DU.

19. Thanks, Ark Granny....
isn't it scary to think that there are still THAT many who support him? I personally think 33% is way too high...

20. I think it's pretty high, too. I can't recall the last time I spoke to
anyone who supports him right now and I live in a red area of a red state. The people that I know who voted for him just keep quiet so if they still support him they are doing it silently. I never hear anyone defend him these days and many who backed the war are having second thoughts.

2. Exactly. It's to continue until it's handed off.
If it's continues as a miserable mess (McCain strategeries), he'll point fingers elsewhere as you've said. If it all gets cleaned up he'll claim the credit, even if it ends up being something in no way resembling the 'freedom and democracy' he touted.

5. The sad thing is he can accomplish that goal by default
I have no idea what the near term looks like but in long term * will be able to claim that the congress thwarted his efforts in Iraq by cutting or just freezing funding levels for the occupation.

I do much agree the continuation of mayhem will go on till that fellow is kicked out of office

to do the right thing, regardless of how the repukes try to frame it in the future?

8. You sure his goal isn't to stay out of prison
If it isn't I'm sure by this time next year it will be his one and only concern.

13. The avalanche of pardons coming will be awesome.
The failure to impeach and remove Cheney/Bush ensures that their war crimes will go not only unpunished but rewarded to obscene degrees, with the complicity of the "good cop" corporatists.

17. No. The troops have to be funded by the Congress.
If they approve the $100 billion supplemental he has asked for, he will have the money for the troops.

23. Ever realize absolutely NOTHING is EVER his fault?
Rove taught him never to accept blame or apologize. I just didn't think he'd take it this damned far, especially when so many things are CLEARLY beyond a shadow of a doubt his administration's fault.
