1. ????
Could you clarify a bit more.

They will send out random notices of what? And, who are the "participants"? TIA. MKJ

6. I didn't hear all of the details...
Participants I guess would be those who signed up for Selective Services...

8. Obviously you didn't, else you might not have been so quick to hyperventilate.
Again, they do this from time to time to make sure that if it ever comes to it, Selective Service can do the duty it was created for. Navy ships run practice drills of mock battles all the time even though most of the time they rarely see combat.

10. Thanks, I did a little research and it appears the Selective Service is doing a test
run of its notification process.

Apparently, this is done on intermittent basis every few years, however, the timing is a little (well, a lot) worrisome. MKJ

13. The test may be further off than you think...
The local TV report indicatd that the test is actually slated for 2009.

This suggests that first they are looking to have good data in their databases.

2. But they do and have done this several times over the years since the 70's...
...and the participants already know they're getting notices. Sheesh.

I hope you enjoy your stay in Iraq. Please kill lots of people for Jesus - he wanted it that way.

(Did you think that the Brave Congressional Democrats would prevent a draft?)

7. My guess is that it will be a skills draft this time....
VIP deferments only...so if you're in school and you have the skill they need, it's bye-bye time.

9. ABC in Chicago

Ran it on their scrawl once an hour this morning, but they were too cowardly to actually report it.

Cheers

11. Citizens ought to be doing a test drive for draft resistance.
Two can play this game. Or we can be passive sheeple and be led to slaughter again.
