We've got quite a few DUers either homeless or on the verge of being homeless. Some of those posts are heartbreaking. What makes us different from Bushbots is our humanity. They certainly don't care that much of the country is going down the tubes- but we do.

On a personal note, you've all contributed to making my Holiday a more meaningful one. I really do believe that it takes a village- not just to raise a child, but to live a full life. Winston Churchill once said, "We make a living by what we get, but we make a life by what we give." I could not agree more.


Thank you all again for kicking, recommending & donating in the fundraiser thread. Your angels and I will never be able to thank you enough for caring. Thank you to Skinner for allowing this fundraiser to go on. DU is heads above some other sites I could mention (starts with an F). What sets us apart (aside from brains!) is COMMUNITY. Thank you for creating a place for all of us to come together.

It was just that crazy day... and guess who isn't done Christmas shopping?!!? LoL.
I only have 2 people left to buy for but it's 2 TOUGH people.
It's now raining here so the idea of going back out is bleck.

Work and holiday stuff hasn't left as much time for DU as usual.

I've had a good year -- my husband has a new job with health insurance -- and I'd like to help out. Is it too late??

While I couldn't donate this time (no gifts under our tree this year either) I am grateful to be part of this awesome online community

but my husband got a job today (Merry Christmas to US!!) and i'll be working soon too so if we can help bobbolink or one of the other DUers in need I'll be up for the next round

When I was a mod last year, we actually lost one of the mods as he ended up homeless and had no computer access. it was heartbreaking :cry:

That's a terrible story about the mod from last year...
