Poll question: Inquiring minds want to know... Do you click on your own threads to fudge the "View" stats?
Edited on Sat Dec-23-06 03:02 PM by Viva_La_Revolution
It occurred to me one day after posting the Book TV thread that I could click on my own threads multiple times to make it appear more popular. I began to wonder if anyone else had thought of this.

Do you?

on edit: do you know that if you post a poll, you get an automatic 333 views rating? :wow:

1. None of the above
but I do click back in whenever someone posts a response.

I wish there was a way to set a flag, so that once you've looked at a thread, it wouldn't record multiple views from the same computer.

2. I don't post often but I say "No it would not help" many views and few
comments I would feel embarassing.

4. that's what I was thinking...
1000 views and 3 comments would make me think "the headline is great! apparently the post is lame" or some such...

Then again... how many people really look at the 'View' stats before clicking. I know I don't. (I only realized that after posting this poll. lol! )

3. Uhm... how else would one read/respond to replies?
I guess I'm just not as obsessed with starting threads as some. Maybe if I were, I would have spent more time thinking about such minutiae.

8. Sure, I click on for that
It seems kind of rude to start a thread and not read the replies.

6. I'm with Tahiti in this
I don't do it to run up a view count, but it happens when I respond.

7. I answered No it wouldn't help - but theres more
I do not try to run up the views. I do, however click to respond AND to kick so that my little apparently insignificant post won't disappear in the dead of night before anybody responds to me (sometimes, like if I have a question).

The views numbers don't mean anything. At least they don't mean anything positive. They go up if I respond or if somebody accidentally clicks on mine when they meant to go to the one right above it (which, I can tell you, was nowhere near as good as mine was)

In fact, (as I said in an earlier post) da views are bummin' me out! If you divide the number of replies your post gets by the number of views it gets, you come up with your loser quotient for that post. The number of people who stopped by and were either too bored with what you had to say, or just thought it was too stupid to merit a tiny bit of their oh so valuable time to reply. I must warn you, this can be severely depressing.
