Remember when Arabs were dancing in the streets after 9-11?
Of course, it wasn't all Arabs, but the M$M (especially FOX) sure as hell loved to show video showing crowds of jubilant Arabs after 9-11.

I wonder if this is how it looks when Americans celebrate the death of Saddam Hussein. Once again, it's not all Americans who are celebrating. But what do you think will make better anti-American propaganda? Americans holding candlelit vigils, or Americans cheering lustily as the news of Saddam's death is announced?

The irony is that these fucktards can't see that their actions make them no better than those who were celebrating after 9-11.

1. If he is hanged tomorrow
There will be some incredible rejoicing and praise Jesusing in "christians" churchs throughout the land on Sunday. His death will change nothing. bush is a failure and will continue to be.

22. And many Iraqis will die, too
The ones who celebrate his hanging will be killed by those who still support him. Those who still support him will be killed by those who wanted him executed. Innocents will get caught in the middle. Innocent children and elderly and those who only want to live their lives.

And our troops will be caught in the middle of the storm.

His execution will only make things worse than they are now and I didn't think that was possible.

21. Well, not in my church
And if there was any cheering about the killing of a human being, I'd walk right out of my church and never set foot back in it.

The death of any human being at the hands of another is not cause for celebration.

Sadly, some Christians will celebrate.

His death will only make things worse, I fear. Worse for Iraqis and worse for our troops. Horrible.

26. arnheim, those who celebrate -
may call themselves "Christians"; they are NOT. I don't know any true Christians who celebrate the death of others.

So, you're a true Christian. The RW Chistianatics/neonuts are not.

Yes, it'll be our troops, and many innocent Iraqis who will suffer.

2. I'm sure we will see that footage this weekend
They will show it again, intertwined with the images of 9/11, and then moving briskly onto the Hussein execution. They will try to meld it all together so in the minds of the average viewer, somehow they will connect it all and feel better about everything.

The sad part is that it will probably work.

4. Arabs dancing in the streets?
I thought it later came out that those pictures (on tape) were from another event and were used as though it was celebrating 9/11. Can anyone recall if it was valid?

28. The footage was edited to make it look as if mobs of Arabs were
celebrating.

However, I saw film on the Deutsche Welle website (I've lost the URL, since that was before a hard drive crash) that showed the same scene and then pulled back to show that it was only a few people and that the majority of the people on the street were walking by and ignoring them.

It was the same trick they pulled with the coverage of pulling down Saddam Hussein's statue right after the fall of Baghdad. The statue was destroyed by Americans, and the film footage made it look as if the event was being cheered by throngs of Iraqis. However, BBC and CBC also pulled back the cameras and showed that the square where the statue was being toppled was maybe 1/4 fulled, with no more than 100 people cheering.

8. There's a geniune hatred towards the US in parts of the Middle East
With our actions over the past few decades, it's not really hard to see why.

As to the footage, I really have no idea whether what we saw was genuine or not. I'm sure that not everyone shed a tear on that day. There are bloodthirsty people in all areas, it wouldn't surprise me if there were scattered pockets of celebrations going on.

9. Seems like a big difference to me, but what do I know.

Hussein is a bonafide bad guy.

The approximately 3000 who died on 9/11 in the attacks were just going to work.

11. Of course, there's a difference - I'm talking about the perception
How do you think it's going to look when people see Americans cheering and partying over Saddam's death? Obviously there aren't going to be many tears shed over his departure. But this type of action helps play into the hands of those who make anti-American propaganda.

14. Yes - there IS a difference
You are right. Those who died on 9/11 were just going to work or whatever, or flying home, etc. That event is still upsetting to me (years ago, I worked in #1 and knew people still working there) - so I can't really discuss it much. It still hurts. Very traumatic.

Of course, our own thugs in Washington knew about something in the wind and did nothing. I don't understand how anyone can justify the "game" and lose lives...

Well, as Forrest Gump said, "that's all I have to say about that."

Sad.

16. Where did I compare 9-11 victims to Saddam Hussein?
Please, tell me in my post where I did that. I did no such thing.

I'm comparing the REACTIONS to the events. Please don't tell me that you think celebrating the death of ANY human being is reason to celebrate?

20. Same Difference In My Opinion. But I'll Leave It Up To Each DU'er To Perceive On Their Own.
But to me, a post trying to compare the reactions to each as if all other things were equal, would by default be equating the death of Saddam to the death of those who perished mercilessly on 9/11.

That's my perception of your post. Like I said, every other DU'er can reach their own conclusion as to your premise.

18. no comparison
I agree. As wrong as we are sometimes, there's no comparing Saddam's demise and the demise of innocent people going about their daily lives and not fighting a war.

We have to keep our balance.

I even live on a cul de sac where the chances of being run over are minimal. Still, where are the street dancers?

17. Not since college
when we could close off a street, set up a bandstand and a keg, maybe roll a funny cigarette or two.

Our dancing was a little different than Iraqi dancing. We did not shoot AK47's into the air. But, hey, celebrate the diversity.

The only footage that was aired was supposedly of Palestinians "celebrating" -- and it was completely bogus.
