Poll question: Babel or Blood Diamond?
My wife says choose one for tonight. I've looked at the trailers and they both look kind of depressing. I posted this question in the lounge but am not getting any feedback so I'm trying here. Seen either one? Opinions?

3. Flip a coin - they are both powerful excellent films.

Whichever one you see tonight, catch the other one next week. I sometimes make a choice based on the likelihood that one film will finish its local theatre engagement before the other. From that point of view, I would see Babel tonight, since it opened several weeks earlier - at least in my local cineplex.
PS - don't think of them as depressing - think of them as gripping!

4. Saw Babel. Very appropriate movie for the current political state
It features everything. Apathy, propaganda, misunderstanding of cultures, stupid kids, oversexed Japanese girls, but also an old Marocan woman who is nursing the woman who got shot and just knew what to do. The movie is not depressing at all.
