Is there an increased threat to our security because of Bush?
If you agree with me that there is an increased threat then what security measures should our nation take to confront them? I can't abide the thought, the reality of Bush in charge of any measures, new or old, that purport to keep us safe, but I don't like the idea of doing nothing in the face of these potential threats for three more years just to keep Bush from meddling with the tools.

What to do?

8. I think that's what Bush did with the NSA intercepts when he bypassed FISA
spy on dissenters for Rove and Co. What I said is simple really. Bush ignored information that clearly indicated bin Laden was planning to attack us with planes. Bush did nothing with the info. We were attacked.

Now Bush is in charge of the new assortment of tools and resources that Congress approved, some unacceptably intrusive, others common sense law enforcement, like sharing info between departments. But there is still a threat to our nation from the same elements that orchestrated 9-11, as well as from others who want revenge for Bush's latest round of military meddling. How much security do we need to address the increased threats that I think Bush has fostered?

You think we should just rant and replace him right? In the meantime everything else falls by the wayside?

What we should do is regime change, but we are indeed screwed at least until midterms.

11. Bush has made the country LESS secure since 9/11
I began compiling a list of reasons why Bush is weak on security last year, but never finished:

Did not retaliate for attacks on Cole

Ignored PDB - Osama wants to attack US

Diverted military away from Afghanistan and al Queda to attack Iraq

Shipping containers not inspected

US borders are not protected - illegal aliens can enter easily

Bush wants to give amnesty to illegal immigrants

Did not want to have Homeland Security Department

Did not want to have 9/11 Commission

Numerous ties between Bush and Saudis, and between Saudis and a 9/11

Would not let Senate Intelligence Committee investigate Saudis

Let Saudis fly out of country after 9/11 without being questioned

Air marshals budgets cut

Republicans have proposed a 63% reduction in funds for port security for fiscal 2005, and that 98% of 600,000 containers coming into the U.S. each year are unmonitored.

Sending National Guard troops to Iraq instead of protecting the US

Chemical, biological and nuclear facilities are poorly protected

Homeland Security resources are poorly allocated among the states and local governments.

Emergency communications is inadequate

Outed a CIA agent who was working undercover on anti-terrorism
