Mosque plans trigger neighbor's pig races
Edited on Sun Dec-31-06 10:17 AM by Tripper11
Not sure if this has been posted yet...but I just caught this story on the RSS feed.

Story Highlights • Texan sells sausages during races at prayer time
• Islamic association had asked man to move cattle from its land
• Man thought Muslims wanted him off his own land
• They don't, but he decided to race the pigs anyway

Quote du jour : "I would be like a total idiot if I didn't. I'd be the laughingstock now because I've gone too far."
Baker said, "

All I can say is :eyes: OY!

2. Same thing...
Resident Susan Canavespe said the pig racing wasn't mean-spirited -- "It's just Texas-spirited."

I'm embarrassed to say I was born in Texas.

But, I'm a Californian all the way.

3. From what I have read,
the Muslims said they didn't care if he had pig races, etc. They just don't eat pork. But there is an element in Katy TX that seem to think that a mosque will lower property values, etc. etc. A lot of Islamophobia going on there--too many people have bought into the notion that all Muslims are terrorists.

4. Interesting thing.
This all started because the would-be mosque builders asked him to keep his cattle from grazing on THEIR land.

This man is now protesting not being allowed free rein over SOMEONE ELSE'S property.

Typical Republican.

5. Typical Houstonion - here's the real quote...
Resident Susan Canavespe said the pig racing wasn't mean-spirited -- "It's just Texas-spirited." Of course it was mean-spirited. Sorry to all decent Houstonians, but when I lived there I couldn't get over the number of complete morons who lived in the city. Not only did they not understand what was going on, they had to act like complete jackasses while being completely wrong in the first place. Only "Beers, Steers and Queers" from Revolting Cocks aptly describes that attitude.
