Good news for insomniacs - Art Bell has moved back to Pahrump
Edited on Sun Dec-31-06 04:11 PM by bananas
Back in the USA
Art Bell made a surprise announcement that he and his wife Airyn have just arrived in the US from the Philippines and that he was once again broadcasting the show "from the High Desert & the great American Southwest."

3. Come on! Most of the reason to listen to this guy is the general kookiness of it all
It's like watching X-files. I love the folks that call in and all the weirdness. When I have insomnia, nothing distracts me like the callers to that show.

11. I always enjoy Art and the strange stuff his guests talk about. It makes a nice break from
political radio. Can't stay up and listen like I used to, guess I'm getting old.

I'm glad he's back in Pahrump. I guess the Philippines was a bit too much for him.

14. Fart Smell...I mean Art Bell kept promoting a "Christian" fascist.
Gary North, the "Y2K Doomsday prophet."

16. Bell does not "promote" his guests.
He gives them a forum. They can say what they want. Art usually does not agree or disagee, but lets the guest ramble on about what they are into.

That is why I like him. Let the nut-case talk. I'll decide if I agree or not.

27. I notice that Mr. Bell has no problem with self-promotion
but has never apologized for his role in the run-up of the Y2K debacle. His silence in that matter is deafening, especially when his syndicators (and indirectly, the host,) must have been making a mint over the "products" being hawked on his program during that period of time.

I believe that his "retirement" had more than a little to do with those who were most likely duped into amassing supplies via the broadcasts of Mr. North and his buddy, Mr. Yourdon, and demanding answers as a result.

IMHO, YMMV.

23. There are far more people that buy into his nonsense
than there should be. Why can't we have a show on the radio that gives voice to the real things science is dicovering? Why instead do we have to give voice to the kookiness that is so common in our society these days? Maybe we do need to tsk tsk shows like this more often and promote shows that do our society a true service.

Yeah I get that its funny and all. But I just wish that people could embrace science as readily as they embrace crop circles and UFOs.

4. Great news.
I haven't listened to C2C since he left.

It'll be good to have something weird to listen to at night again.

He's been on the air for decades.
Click on the map to find a local station:

edit: a lot of stations in the west repeat his show at 2am.

6. Interesting To listen To
When I'm sleepless, I like to listen to Art - it's silly stuff that's interesting enough to divert my busy brain from my problems, but boring enough to knock me out.

His politics are way, way to the Right. I recently heard him bashing Islam - and he thinks that Bush isn't far enough to the right, at least on some issues. Yowza!

15. He's way right on some things, but middle of the road on others, and
downright loberal on some, IIRC.

Isn't he pro-choice, and pro-gay rights?

26. I caught the tail end of something he said the other day that..
sounded anti-choice. Maybe it depends on the point in the pregnancy for him. He is all over the place on issues but generally takes a "patriotic" stance and is pretty kind to Repuke callers. I like it when he sticks to the paranormal. You have to pick and choose who to believe on his show. One time they had a spiritual scientist, who made a lot of sense to me. And I believe in ghosts and UFOs.

10. I'm glad he's back.
He's had quite a year.

Even if you don't agree with Art, he is so open with his audience that he quickly changes from a radio personality to a friend.

12. Bell has a poor grasp of many issues, but I like his voice...
His voice is soothing, if you can get past all the weird shit he says. Not a bad choice for insomniacs.

13. jaysus....one of the biggest ahole conmen who ever befouled the planet:
listen to this excellent example of how STUPID he thinks his listeners are....

he claims these are actual SCREAMS from HELL!

sounds more like any typical day at Grand Central Station:

go here, then scroll down to this section, about half way. when you see this, a red rectangle has a 'listen' button, with which you can bring up the screams (realplayer)

this is the idiotic level of 'infotainment' to which this show typically stoops; it's SO lame as to not even approach laughability

"As a communist I don’t believe in heaven or the Bible but as a scientist I now believe in hell," said Dr. Azzacove. "Needless to say we were shocked to make such a discovery. But we know what we saw and we know what we heard. And we are absolutely convinced that we drilled through the gates of hell!"

Dr. Azzacove continued, ". . .the drill suddenly began to rotate wildly, indicating that we had reached a large empty pocket or cavern. Temperature sensors showed a dramatic increase in heat to 2,000 degrees Fahrenheit."

"We lowered a microphone, designed to detect the sounds of plate movements down the shaft. But instead of plate movements we heard a human voice screaming in pain! At first we thought the sound was coming from our own equipment."

"But when we made adjustments our worst suspicions were confirmed. The screams weren’t those of a single human, they were the screams of millions of humans!"

http://av1611.org/hell.html

MILLIONS of humans!

millions, I tell you!

17. Art didn't say this. Stop it.
He gives a forum to those that do. He has NEVER said that this audio was legit or anything. Just that it was there, and he thought it was weird. That's all.

Art Bell always lets the talkers on the other side of the phone go. He rarely takes any sides.

I drove to Pahrump awhile back, and the FM station he runs is pretty damn good. I wish they were on the web to stream.

20. Coast to Coast is ear candy
Nobody with a brain takes it seriously. The guests tend to be...shall we say "quirky?" It's the callers that come off as totally whack jobs. The show makes my 3 AM commute fun.

24. Bell is a proponent of continuing the war and said the other day that the Shrub
was a decent President. Ironically, he was able to immigrate his child bride in half the time it takes most people to do it. He did say he had "help".
