Statement of Purpose

The Peace Park Project is dedicated to building a Peace Park in Asheville, NC, with a stone wall that shows the human costs of the Iraq War.

American troop deaths increase weekly, as does the number of injured and maimed; there is no end in sight. We want to hasten the end of this war by drawing attention to the increasing number of our young people who are dying in a preemptive war of aggression.

To this end we are building the Iraq Wall. It will incorporate the names, ages, and hometowns of the American troops killed in Iraq.

We will also build a memorial to the Iraqi dead, presently estimated at over 100,000.

We invite local and national support and participation in making this park a reality.
