Congressman Conyers:Patriot Act Passes Senate and Bush Flees 34% Approval
Patriot Act Passes Senate and Bush Flees 34% Approval Ratings

I was disappointed today that the Patriot Act Reauthorization passed the Senate by a wide margin. The House will have its vote next week, a vote that was delayed from today. I have voiced my opposition to this new legislation and shared the text of the speech I prepared for today at RawStory.com.

On another note, the President has journeyed to India, fleeing 34% approval ratings, where he was greeted with 100,000 protestors. While this is half as many that protested the war last September, it still shows that he can draw massive crowds wherever he goes.

4. I first thought of "- December 12, 2000"; but there seemed to be
some hope in the following years. The passage of the "Patriot" Act in the week to come spells the end of the Republic, which will be very, truly, really dead at that point.
