There is a deep sickness in our country, and I fear it will get worse before it gets better.

Sixty years from now, people will be astounded that things could go this crazy...

It's partisan politics, and it ain't gonna change.

6. If he would do something non-destructive, I would be happy
The only thing I can think of that he has done that is good is the "do not call" list. YEah for him!

Everything else has been destructive.

5. Live Babies with Tabasco sauce...
I have learned that the majority of right wingers choose to hear and believe what they want to for whatever the spin is, it coincides with their fears, self loathing, bigotry, pompous self righteousness and insecurities. All that I can come up with is that their parents were the same and/or they really lack an understanding of history and how the world has worked for a zillion years.

7. Only as long as they were full term
Eating a baby is one thing, but eating a fetus would not be tolerated.

8. Sad thing is, we established this fact long ago
If he gunned down a 3 year old on national TV, they'd applaud his marksmanship, or make the kid's parents apologize (judging by the Cheney incident)
If Jesus Christ Himself came down and said "George Bush is a false prophet and must be removed from office" they'd say "You're outdated, Jesus. George here is our new and improved Savior."
If he admitted to orchestrating the 9/11 attacks himself, they would say "he needed to attack us so we'd fight the war on terra"
If he sodomized Barney while eating Pickles and the twins and uttering prayers to Satan, they would say that Satanism is the only thing that can protect our country from attack

Face it, they love Bush more than they love God Himself. In fact, they think Bush IS God Himself.

12. There's one and only one reason Hitler's core supporters abandoned him.
Edited on Wed Mar-01-06 11:06 PM by TahitiNut
Because he lost. It wasn't because of the Final Solution. It wasn't because he committed suicide (that was because they finally abandoned him). It was solely because he lost. Until that time, at least 25% of German citizens supported him and the majority were ambivalent.

As far as I'm concerned, that's a lesson in the futility of facts vs. blind faith/loyalty. When someone tries to take their myths away, they have a phobic reaction. Panic. What can they possibly do without those false beliefs? Their fear is palpable. That's why anger comes so quickly to the surface - it's survival.

There continue to be people on DU who concern themselves with what Bush* 'thinks' of 'feels' - they might as well be concerned about the Easter Bunny's droppings on their lawns. Futility. There continue to those who assail reichbots with 'facts' - not appreciating how much more rapidly fictions can be created and how preferable they are to the faith-based.

Catch-22 - they'll support him until he loses. Since they don't have another macho cowboy to shovel their bullshit for them and call it chocolate, they have nowhere else to go.
