LTTE Yahoo State

With the unconstitutional ban on abortion passed by the state House and Senate, our license plate slogan will have to be revised: South Dakota, the Yahoo State.

LTTE Repercussions

A tourism ban isn't the only repercussion to South Dakota's punitive abortion measures. For the past eight months I have been working "behind the scenes" to locate a major "think tank" organization here in the Black Hills.

We were one of three U.S. sites being considered and actually had an edge due to the available employment pool graduating from the School of Mines. This organization would have brought hundreds of jobs, economic benefits and worldwide recognition to the Black Hills and would have become a major tourist destination for programs offered to the public.

We have just been out and out flatly dropped, citing our "extreme political views and archaic treatment of women."

LTTE Proposed laws

Proposals for the next legislative session:

Felonious fornication: No recreational sex allowed, only procreational intent tolerated.

Self Abuse Act: Males between 13-50 who require glasses should be suspected. Hair on the palms, guilty.

No heavy petting between species law: Causing a cat to arch its back and purr is against nature.

Misdemeanor Miscarriage: The women should be guiltless, but the men should be required to wear a hat that says BAD SEED.

Ban the word abortion from being spoken in the entire state of South Dakota. $1,000 fine in Pierre.

All the above proposals are not merited by science, reason or common sense. That will ensure they pass in Pierre with minimum debate.

1. South Dakota can enact laws they wish
and if it's oppressing females, I promise to visit them after I visit Mars. But I will take up a collection to move the Black Hills to a more woman friendly state.

3.  "extreme political views and archaic treatment of women."
This letter-writer should at least wake up those who aren't paying attention.

I hate having to participate in the tourism boycott - as a biker, I enjoy the nutso scene at Sturgis as well as the beauty of the Black Hills - but I know of NO ONE in my motorcycle crowd who will ride there after this law has passed.

5. I've wondered about the Sturgis/motorcycle crowd
Wondered if they'd be boycotting.

6. Ride somewhere else--no need to give up your fun for their cruelty--
this was a great suggestion I had emailed to me today about my boycott article--why don't all of the bikers who usually go to Sturgis sponsor an alternative ride, one that is woman-friendly, and they can still have a great time.

I am sure some other state would be more than willing to make the money off of this event if it were offered to them.

7. Bikers, like everyone else, are a very mixed bunch.
Everything from super-fundies to major progressives. Most bikers I know are fairly apolitical - but they HATE oppression. I know of at least 4 clubs who have changed their Sturgis plans for '06 and have let SD know about it.

I never, ever don't ride - I just choose where I go. Something this egregious will get a lot of attention on many, many biker websites.
Remember that repuke asshole Janklow who got a slap on the wrist for being drunk and killing a biker? Yep - another South Dakota fundie.
