"The View" talks politics with Alec Baldwin
This is just hilarious.

I don't think I've hardly ever watched this show. I think it's the first time I've seen it since long before Starr got married, so that gives you an idea.

The women, with the exception of the blonde (don't know her name) are rather critical of Bush. The blonde is a riot - everything you expect a Bush supporter to be. Before Alec game on the set, the blonde said "it's so easy to criticise the President, and all people ever do is criticise him because he's President." Joy and Starr really piped up and said that Bush has done a terrible job (I think their discussion at this point was focused on Katrina). The blonde said, defensively "I do think that some things could've been handled a little bit better here". That's when Starr said that his handling of "this" (Katrina) was dreadful, and followed up with, "when you're the leader, you get credit when things go well, and you have to take criticism when you don't do a good job. He did not do a good job". End of segment! They shot her down big-time.

After the break, Alec joined the group. The blonde actually said to Alec Baldwin (paraphrased): "I think a lot of people support the President because they believe in his presidency, and his ability to be a good president - not just because he's a Republican."

Alec was terrific. While I was yelling at my TV, he calmly replied, "Well, I think that it's true that there are many people who believe in him. However, I think many people continue to support him simply because he is a Republican."

In talking about the many scandals, Alec made a good point that there is so much information out there, a lot of people dont' have time to digest it. They are innundated with more info (i.e. scandals), so they think about the scandal du jour for only a little time and don't think about how these things really affect them, affect their country and the world. Good point. Scandal overload.

9. ROFL! I can't see him without thinking of his schwetty balls!
I don't think that came up. They did discss his ongoing custody battles with Kim Basinger. I mentally tuned out at that point.

3. Joy was super
she shot down the blond, who knows her GOP talking points like Ken Mehlman almost. Joy even said that Brown should have said "Heck of a job Georgie!". Joy is definitely on our side. The blonde obviously has drank the kool-aid.

5. Joy is actually a mean, sexist pig.
Democrats come in all flavors.

She's said some really rude things about women like Katharine Hepburn, etc. "Joan Rivers lite."

and watch just the Hot Topics to see how Elizabeth (the blonde)
presents the Repug talking points. She obviously gets Rove's
daily memos. I like to see how Joy and Star rebut her. Many
may think this isn't important but I believe it truly is. This
is how many average, middle of the road people get their
news and form opinions. I sometimes email the ladies with
ammunition against Elizabeth.

8. Good for you, keep those emails to them coming
I agree that shows like this, and Oprah are how the average person forms their opinions on politics. Not everyone is connected to the "internets".

11. Have they ever turned to the little bushbot(Elizabeth) and said
"Do you think B* should be held accountable for anything Elizabeth?"

"Anything at all?"

"Please tell me, tell all of us to what standard he should be held"

"Do you believe in Harry Truman's plaque/famous saying The Buck stops HERE?

12. thanks, and more info on today's show
Thanks for Elizabeth's name. I didn't know it (I feel a little bad that I've basically referred to her as a dumb blonde... but as you mentioned, she does read her Rove talking points real good!)

BTW, another interesting segment just finished. They discussed a family who had a daughter who was transgendered, and in middle school, he was diagnosed and started living his life as a boy. It was a terrific discussion, this boy's first time discussing his journey on TV. I think he's still only about 14. They discussed the impact of this on their whole family (including his sister), and how people at school have reacted. It was a good presentation, and again, I think rather amazing that they had such an open discussion of how people can be born and identify with a different sex than the parts they have. The family even openly discussed his plan to have "top surgery" but he's decided against "bottom surgery", and the fact that he is "mentally all boy, so (he) likes girls, and is enjoying dating girls".

Pretty amazing for this to be on daytime TV. I hope it opens a few more minds.

14. Good. Sometimes people seem uninformed. E-mailing Joy
and Starr with info from our side is great.

Keep it up!

13. BushCo is using their never-ending scandal saga
To keep critics and the country in a constant state of distraction. Think you have one scandal nailed down? BOOM! Here comes another one! Lose your train of thought, legal avenues filled with stonewalls? Look out, there goes another scandal!

Okay seriously, what evidence do have again?

Well, come back when you've put your alleged puzzle together. Psst, you might look in that corner, something might not smell right. Whew, good thing you went of there, that scandal flew by at supersonic speed. No evidence yet, well maybe you can change things in the next election. Good luck!
