It's now become a matter of keeping the old Patriot Act that was about 15% too onerous, or voting in the new Act that is now about 10% too onerous.

That said, Russ is absolutely right to get every objection into the historic record - it matters even when defeat is certain.

and see its importance in fighting most aspects of terrorism. It's either voting FOR the 90% you agree with at this point or being against even the 90% of the bill you agree with.

It's not like Alito, where he was 100% wrong.

8. Senator Feingold sent me an e-mail.

He thanked me for signing his petition, telling the president to stop the warrantless surveillance of American citizens. He wants us all to tell five friends about this petition at russ@progressivepatriotsfund.com. Sorry I don't know how to create a link for the site. He stated in this letter how disturbed he was with Attorney General Gonzales. He said that Mr. Gonzales was not honest with him during his own confirmation hearings. For many of you this is something you already knew. He goes on to indicate how concerned he continues to be because the scope of this administrations activities is not known.
