Maybe this NSA spying disclosure is the straw that broke the camels back
coupled with the ports deal a lot of re:puke:s are mad. One without the other would have been fine with most of them but not both. Lots of hard questions are being asked now by both the media and the congress critters.:)

6. Sure it was, it was what got everybodys attention, the week of watching
the happenings in NO was too much to ignore. The beast was awakened if you will then the nsa and now the ports. My hope level rises with each new disclosure, such as todays tape that bush* knew about katrina after he lied and said he didn't.

7. Katrina showed Bush couldn't be trusted
with national security. It brought home to me the fact that the administration is totally incompetant and uncaring. I think that only by facist spying can Bush try to maintain his power.

2. I agree. Also, I understand the importance of the need for wiretapping.
However, the President must go to the FISA courts to obtain the warrent. In 99% of the cases, the warrent in granted, and there is a paper trail that demonstrates why the DOJ spied.
What we are saying is that the President does not have the right to act unilaterally whenever they feel like it.

4. It won't break the back until the people understand how it can
be used to intimidate Congress, sabotage the UN deliberations and serve as a weapons against domestic political adversaries. So far the media has not explained these angles.

8. There are plenty where I live that don't get it. Here's a sample:
Bush has power to order wiretaps
March 2, 2006

Editor, the Advocate:

Re: James Dolan's Feb. 9 letter, "Laws disregarded":

I am not offended nor am I outraged that the National Security Agency conducted wiretaps without warrants.

I believe strongly that if something endangers the well-being of this nation and the American people, our president should set aside legal niceties and act quickly.

I also believe this program is designed to prevent attacks on the United States of America.

With that being said, President Bush has the power to conduct warrantless surveillance under the Constitution's war powers provision.

Congress gave Bush the power when it authorized the use of military force against terrorists in a resolution adopted within days of the Sept. 11 attacks.

If the terrorists are talking to someone in America, we need to find out what they are thinking.

If I were in Crawford, I would hold a sign that reads, "I support Bush!" ----End.

You can't get through to these people until it is a Dem doing the wiretapping, which of course, wouldn't happen without a warrant.

10. Some of those people believe as Gonzo does that
even since George Washington, Presidents have used electronic wiretapping devices.

9. I think the UAE deal exposed to the bone what they are doing.
The others, Katrina, NSA all were ice breakers for the Port deal.

12. from the looks of it.....
....this year may not be different than last year.

When you look at everything together beginning with Schiavo, then Cindy, Katrina, higher gas prices, Libby indictment, Abramoff-Delay corruption, NSA spying, the UAE ports deal and the war in Iraq........that's a lot of crap to deal with.

And to think they created all of this themselves!!! They should be worried!!!
