The controversy, which has pit President Bush against Congress, also seems to have dented his approval rating over his handling of terrorism and narrowed Republicans' long-standing advantage over Democrats on the issue.

The outcry is commanding intense public interest. Three of four Americans say they are following the story closely. Overall, they oppose the deal by a nearly 4-to-1 ratio, 66%-17%...

1. Why can't an American Co. run the ports?

Have Americans really gotten so into X-box and Text messaging that we can't run our own assets?

6. Bush can't give up the port deal because he gets his cut once he's out of
office. Plus, if Bushco increases port security, someone might see the mountains of drugs and cash and other shit that Dubya smuggles in and out.

7. So selling our ports was a No-Bid contract just like Halliburton?

8. It's probably a massive money laundering exercise. The British company
is probably tied to the Carlyle group just as UAE is. When you rape entire sections of the planet for a living, the officers of the company have to be very creative in exercising options.

10. Isn't it though? Are you familiar with "the smoking man" from the X files?
I'm pretty sure that character is based on someone in the Carlyle group.

A reasonable person would allow the law that allows congress to review this be followed. The claim about doing us a favor by following the law is disturbing. To have access to facts concerning something that affects our security is not just a courtesy.
