MR BENNISH'S LAWYER ON THE PHONE ON THE NEWS!!!
Edited on Fri Mar-03-06 10:48 AM by Buddyblazon
Here in Denver.

Lawyer: "Is this related to the curriculum?"

Lawyer: Paraphrase "class is Human geography...and thats what this class discusses"

Lawyer: LETTER IS SENT TO ALL PARENTS AT START OF SEMESTER ABOUT CURRICULUM

Lawyer: Paid administrative leave

Lawyer: Filing a suit today...not seeking money.

Nothing about a signed release.

On Edit:

His lawyer basically said that Bennish presents both sides.

This would make sense...the recording is 20 mins....yet the classes at Overland are 50 mins long.

1. Too bad most of the rest of us here on GD
aren't from Denver. Don't have a clue what you're talking about.

2. He's the teacher
who was encouraging something other than a cookie-cutter mentality in his Geography classroom. He made mention of the Bush regime. A "bushbot" student in the making recorded what the teacher was saying.
The teacher is now on admin. leave. due to complaints by this student and his parents.

I think that's the brief background.

3. Even in the small amount of press yesterday, I read one of Bennish's
statements, supposedly from the tape, where he told the students that it was 'just his opinion' and that he was hoping to teach them 'not to accept' things out-of-hand, but to think about them.

4. totally different. guess we need more of story. he warned ids and parent
so they are ready for it. is it an elective? gives child choice and they chose this class knowing what to expect. and teacher using this in a class discussion, opinion and both sides presented. a whole different ball game

6. Does the Hudson Institute know that this guy wanted the kids to think?
That goes compelely against HI's model for a two-tiered educational system of the managerial class (not you) and the worker class (you).

7. I saw the kid that taped this on Hannity last night
and I am sorry to say he is a little shit.... I did not like the kid at all and apparently a lot of the other students felt the same way as they walked out in protest of this event....

It was on the AM news here in Denver. Most of the kids are protesting his suspension and Sean thinks he will have to change schools because of what he did!!
