"Koyaanisqatsi " -- I saw this movie early this morning...
It is amazingly beautiful and sad. Has anyone else seen it. It was made by Godfrey Reggio in 1987 and is quite long. No dialogue, really no humans in the sense we think of them in the movies. The star is our Mother Earth, in all her finery and splendor. Beautiful music with many scenes of unspoiled earth for quite a while and then a gradual focus in on the markings on her surface and atmosphere made by man in the last hour. It is at once awesome and aweful. I get DISH TV satellite and I'm attaching a link to the program schedule for the interested. Enjoy.

1. Yup it's wonderful
Translation for title means "life out of balance."

Now in retrospect life on the planet then seems like the good old days when the EPA had enforceable laws and people had some recourse. Politicians at least pretended to care about the environment.

So much has been lost.

2. I have it on DVD. A wonderful film with a splendid music score,
written by Phillip Glass. There is a digitally recorded performance of the music score (a new performance) now available that sounds even better. By the way, it dates to 1983.

There are two sequels, the latter of which came out only a couple of years ago.

3. I'm going to order them. Just so that there is another record
somewhere in case Little Boots ends up nuking the world.

11. If you liked Koyaanisqatsi,
you might like Baraka too. made by Godfrey Reggio's cinematographer Ron Fricke. It's stunning:

12. A fine film. Very moving.
Have seen it several times, and an abbreviated soundtrack disc has accompanied me through some hard times on the job.
