Phelps shows up at a veteran's funeral, and is immediately surrounded by a ring of Hari Krishnas, chanting. The next ring has a group of meditators from Maharishi University, doing TM and intoning OM. The next ring has Sufis doing zkr. The next ring has Native American shamen bringing forth their power animals and singing the chants associated with those animals. The next ring has the motorcycle riders holding the flags and singing patriotic songs. Wiccans would wind in and out of the circles, bearing salt and casting a circle around Phelps and Co, protecting the rest of us from them.

How does that sound?

It would, at any rate, be interesting to watch.

When it does, then I will believe there is a god.

Nobody in the MSM gave a damn about Phelps when he was picketing the funerals of homosexuals, showing up everywhere with "God Hates Fags" signs, and even going as far as planning to build a monument in Matthew Shepard's home town "commemerating his entrance into hell".

But, he pickets a few Iraq servicemen's funerals, and suddenly he is enemy number 1 of the MSM. And some in the MSM even go as far as to suggest he is an "anti-war" activist, trying to group him in with the left.

Sure, these fundie, right wing jackasses hate Phelps now that he shows up at the funerals of fallen soldiers. And they might even consider themselves heroes for keeping him out and forming these human chains.

But where the fuck were they last year? The year before? The year before that?

Truth is, once Phelps gets over this and stops picketing soldiers' funerals, these people won't have a problem with him anymore. The Phelps cult will be able to harass families of gay Americans at their whim, and none of these people will stand up to protect them.

A day late and a dollar short, aren't they? I hadn't thought of the smear on anti-war people.

Remember, the MSM are the same people who implied that the anti-war side was unpatriotic until Murtha spoke up (and even then they tried to smear him, but he did finally get the topic taken seriously). It always bothered me that, even though we were right, we couldn't get a hearing until just the right hawk spoke up.
