FORT MITCHELL, Ky.) -- A Fort Mitchell man protesting a proposed ban on bow and arrows was arrested when he wouldn't leave the podium during the public comment portion of a city council meeting.

Robert Dryer, 54, is facing charges of disrupting a meeting, resisting arrest and disorderly conduct after an outburst during a debate on whether to include bow and arrows on a list of projectiles prohibited within city limits.

"Ninety-five percent of neighbors said they don't want a ban," Dryer said at the meeting. "You don't have the authority to ban a sport or a religion."

Even with the objections of Dryer and two dozen other protesters, the city council unanimously passed a ban that prevents the use of bows and arrows.

The sport became subject for debate last fall after a family's pet was shot by an arrow. The ordinance also bans paintballs and bullets and carries a caveat that would allow schools and the city's recreation department to offer archery programs.

More laws to save us all. Not saying it is a bad law, just seems like everytime something happens a new law is made to try to stop it from occuring again. Eventually things are going to get more silly than they are now. Here in these parts (Ohio for me) some years ago the city I live in decided you need to register yard sales because a few people would set one up and leave it all summer. Throw a yard sale, you're breaking the law unless you get one and follow it's rules (and iirc it limited how many you could have per year as well, been late 90's since I read it).
