Iraq; "As many bodies as fish". As in HOLY SHIT.
Previously The Daily Telegraph relied on the director of the Baghdad morgue, Faik Bakir, to provide figures for the number of violent deaths he dealt with (usually about 850 a month). That is impossible now as he has been forced to flee the country for speaking to the media.

When those giving insight into the extent of the killings are targeted, it is fair to conclude that those doing the threatening want no one to know the scale of what is being undertaken.

One clue came from the few fishermen remaining on the heavily polluted Tigris. They say their nets are pulling up as many bodies as fish.

15. The German people were punished after WWII
I don't think Bush and Company will be the only ones getting punished if that happens.

I can see the US occupied, possibly even partitioned like Germany was after the war. Allowing fascists to take over your country and slaughter hundreds of thousands of people has consequences, I'm afraid.

25. Most of the slaughtering is being done by Iraqis.
And who the hell is going to occupy us? The salient principle here is: A thermonuclear power never has to say "we're sorry."

I'm not especially proud to be an American right now. But it will be up to Americans to repair the damage. We will do it.

The Lancet report put it at a hundred thousand dead 2 years ago and the "insurgency" hadn't even really taken off at that time.

Then there's the whole question of who or what is behind the insurgency. Many Iraqis believe it is America/Britian/Israel.

When some Brits were caught posing as insurgents and killing policemen, British troops came and broke them out of jail. That certainly doesn't look good to me.

As for us being invaded, if we invade Iran, then I could quite easily see us reaching "Nazi Germany" levels in the rest of the worlds' eyes and I think we could be invaded for it. We don't have a force field around this country. We don't even have a shitty missile defense shield after billions upon billions being pissed away on it for decades.

Sure, we can wipe out any other country with nukes, but we're a goner too and that is just as certain. Not one that I could count as a win for us.

29. Right now, the violence is mainly Iraqi against Iraqi.
Forgive me, but the US/UK/Israel are not the ones doing most of the killing right now. Particularly the Israelis. The Bush/Blair adminstrations began this disaster, so to that extent, they are responsible for it. But again, most of the present killing is Iraqi against Iraqi.

No one is capable of invading/controlling the US. No one will nuke us either (our missile defense is useless, but we still have our strategic nuclear weapons, a system designed to survive a Soviet first strike).

So again, it will be up to Americans to deal with our leaders and our war. I assume we will deal with it, just as we dealt with Nixon and Vietnam.

6. Death squads are running amuck over there.
Everybody and their mother probably has a death squad operating in the contrived chaos of Iraq.

The Coalition is at least enabling these murder machines by hiding the true scale of the killing.

23. emphasis on _Everybody_
I mean, literally _anyone_ (with sufficient resources) can operate a deathsquad in a war zone. In that kind of chaos there's no telling who's who.

It still doesn't make sense to me that Iraqis have started to fight one another instead of the invaders. In fact, i don't think it's true.

14. Who are these men in black?
"Darkness comes and then people with masks set up checkpoints.

~snip~

Who these armed men are and which groups they represent nobody knows.

Amid the confusion and fear it is not only inter-sectarian violence but also Sunnis reporting being threatened and their relatives attacked in Sunni areas and Shia reporting the same in theirs.

I've followed other accounts in Iraqi blogs that note similar descriptions.

The Iraqi Rabita website reports an interview with a Mahdi militia leader today, quoted as saying: "Strange things are happening these days. It's true that our guys often act as a bunch of spiteful, criminal thieves going on sprees of sabotage, murder and plundering. But the people who were running the act were clean young men, elegantly dressed, in modern vehicles, carrying the latest weapons, unlike our guys who are usually unkempt ruffians. No one knows were they are now." from Saturday, February 25, 2006
Curfew Extended, Situation Still Tense

http://healingiraq.blogspot.com /

And, a while back, in an interview with Robert Fisk, he said:

The real question I ask myself is: who are these people who are trying to provoke the civil war? Now the Americans will say it's Al Qaeda, it's the Sunni insurgents. It is the death squads. Many of the death squads work for the Ministry of Interior. Who runs the Ministry of Interior in Baghdad? Who pays the Ministry of the Interior? Who pays the militia men who make up the death squads? We do, the occupation authorities.

Yeah, look, in August, I went into the same mortuary and found out that 1,000 people had died in one month in July. And most of those people who had died were split 50/50 between the Sunnies and the Shiites, but most of them, including women who'd been blindfolded and hands tied behind their backs - I saw the corpses - were both Sunnies and Shiites. Now, I'm not complaining that the Washington Post got it wrong - I'm sure there are massacres going on by Shiites - but I think they are going on by militias on both sides. What I'd like to know is who is running the Interior Ministry? Who is paying the Interior Ministry? Who is paying the gunmen who work for the Interior Ministry? I go into the Interior Ministry in Baghdad and I see lots and lots of armed men wearing black leather. Who is paying these guys? Well, we are, of course. The money isn't falling out of the sky. It's coming from the occupation powers and Iraqi's Government, which we effectively run because, as we know, they can't even create a constitution without the American and British ambassadors being present. We need to look at this story in a different light. That narrative that we're getting - that there are death squads and that the Iraqis are all going to kill each other, the idea that the whole society is going to commit mass suicide - is not possible, it's not logical. There is something else going on in Iraq. Don't ask me to...

Policemen

Brits posing as insurgents, captured after killing policemen. Broken out of jail by British mechanized unit that destroyed the jail and let loose dozens of other prisoners besides these two. The pair seems to have disappeared off the face of the earth after being broken out of jail.

21.  Dont suggest they had anything to do with the Golden Dome though...
otherwise some DUer will come along and imply that you dont care about Iraqis or Americans. At least thats what has happened to me whenever I suggest that we are running false flag campaigns.

Im still feeling a bit bitter about that, its like this kind of shit just somehow gets rationalized away when in point of fact there is no rational reason for this kind of op other than a false flag. We are the terrorists and I am 100% certain we had a hand in the detonation of the mosque. Simply put, whatever bit of AQ that is in Iraq always (and I mean always) takes responsibility for their attacks. They didn't for this and that makes no sense other than it was a false flag op.

Sorry, needed to vent. Thanks for the reminder that there is precious little difference between "us" and "them".
