1. I hate to burst your bubble, but
there is absolutely no evidence so far that Dubai has any intention of not completing this deal.

"Transfer" is a lovely word, but it's not the same as "divest" or "sell."

All the people who are celebrating right now ought to slow down and realize they're just getting a hand job from Dubai and the White House - they're certainly not getting laid.

Setting up an "American entity" means they'll simply transfer their ownership to a company based in the US, but, believe me, the government of Dubai will own everything.

Don't fall for weasel words, and don't ever think that Dubai will give up anything of value.

..had to be a Corp large enough to do all 100+ ports in the deal. Can't remember where, but it was in a business article online.

But yeah, the WH was ~SHOCK~ lying.

15. There are American compaines that run U.S. ports. Granted, not a lot of
them, but they do exit. Additionally, these ports can be ran be either city or state governments. There are hundreds, if not thousands of examples local governments running infrastructure throughout our country.

i.e. All of the locks and damns on all our major rivers, Dams, it goes on and on.

2. I loved Christine Romans' report on "White House, Inc."
Focused on how * runs the country like a business, caring more about commerce than citizens' (workers) safety. I know he gets bashed around here sometimes, but I think Dobbs knows the difference between running a business and GOVERNING A COUNTRY and he's not impressed by how * is pretending to do the latter.

I swear, I was watching Dobbs channel Jon Stewart. Dobbs' delivery of the mangoes for nukes story was comically brilliant, with perfect timing and elocution. I've respected Dobbs for his hardline stance on job outsourcing. He's an interesting fella.

This deal's gonna go through, but with simply an extra step - a dummy American corporation set up to act as the agent of the Government of Dubai - and then all the Republicans in Congress can effectively tell their constituents how they "stood up to the White House on the matter of national security," thereby seeming to distance themselves from Fuckface, all the while knowing that the White House (and Dubai) are getting everything they wanted from the start.

Always, always follow the money.

And little do you know of working your way thru the immigration system legally. My DH was a legal immigrant in the US and all he got for it was years of being treated like a 3rd class citizen and a terrorist by the INS.

It's clear to me and some others that know the signs. Lou Dobbs is rabid when it comes to immigrants.

Of course, he helped out but he certainly didn't stop this deal. Many Rethugs in Congress saw this as way to enhance their re-elections by railing against this deal. DPW will still own 21 US Ports.

53. My point is a little different.
I believe that the ports could be safe or unsafe regardless of this deal. We need to do a lot more to be safe in which case the deal would have made no difference. Unless we buy every shipping port in the world too.
