Tweety burned bad by Lou Dobbs.
There's a good reason why Chris Matthews was today crediting Michael Savage and fringe right-wing radio talk shows for stopping the Dubai port deal. But the main man in the media opposing this -- the man with his hair on fire -- has been Lou Dobbs.

My elderly parents have been up in arms over the port deal -- because of Lou Dobbs.

Last time I checked, Lou Dobbs and Tweety are on at the same time - and Tweety came up very short in the comparison. He'd like to think it was Michael Weiner Savage that fired up America. That way he appears less defeated. What a laugh. Tweety's nothing but a big schlock of ego.

1. Steve Savage got canned due to a lack of audience
(isolating large sections of the population will do that) and the others are too numerous to mention for the same reason. If anything, the righties like Rush Limbaugh have been cheering Bush on to help carry it through.

32. Yes you read that correctly
A new report advanced to RAW STORY Thursday suggests that Chris Matthews, the star of the MSNBC's daily talk show Hardball, has accepted hefty speaking fees from an array of conservative trade associations.

Now you understand his turn to the right, and his ability to buy an expensive home in Martha's Vinyard.

People who have never even heard of Michael Savage are worked up over this deal.

Tweety is flake and a fraud. And that's just starting with the "f's."

and Matthews is on at 4 and 6 CT here. Absolutely, Lou Dobbs was the main man, he fought every night to keep the story front and center with excellent information. Matthews is just jealous.

11. Today MSNBC ran Hardball against Lou Dobbs.
I'm usually still at work and don't watch, but was home today and switched back and forth. I guess this was a big enough story to keep Tweety on the air. Who is usually up against Lou Dobbs?

The reason I know that Lou Dobbs has been carrying water on this story is because my mother calls me daily with the latest from Lou.

10. Savage!?
Even when I went trolling over at FR I didn't see posts to Michael Savage calling for an end to the deal.
Though a lot of the wingnuts supported their lord on this, I think even Sean Hannity spewed more broadcast dissent than Savage.

13. For all the good work that Lou and others did
what stopped the port deal was the bush administrations own racism. For years they've been scaring the shit out of the Amurkan sheeple by screaming "ragheads=terra" at every opportunity. Now, what, they're surprised that every dumshit out there in Jesusland is opposed to letting a company owned by "ragheads" take over our ports? They tried to exploit racial fears and it bit 'em in the ass.

17. We shouldn't congratulate ourselves
too much w/o knowing what this "US entity" is that's taking it over. For them to take over so quick, there had to be a lot of favors exchanged. If it turns out to be Halliburton, I'll have to conclude we've been played.

20. What you don't seem to understand...
...is that the Bush Administration is giving us a gift of loose legislation. When the Dems again control Congress and the executive branch, we'll be able to stick wire-taps up every Halliburton employee's ass and get away with it.

30. Not just that, but it's the job of a Senator in an affected state to speak
out, so it was more than calculation. They were doing what they should have been. God forbid Tweety even include them in the shout outs. Clinton and Schumer were among the first to raise a stink.

Edited on Thu Mar-09-06 08:47 PM by IMModerate
I mean, it's universal at DU, a characterization that really has stuck. Occasionally a newbie will query, "Who is this Tweety?" But everybody here knows it.

Do you think he knows? I wonder if his wife says stuff like, "Come to bed Tweety, dear."

I've spoken with a couple of rational conservatives in the past couple weeks about this issue. They both credit Dobbs with presenting the most rational information on this issue. I felt that his show was outstanding in its coverage.
