is this happening anywhere else? Tulsa just had a primary for mayor

and city council.......

before the 2002 election an am radio station that was a major country music station became a 24/7 RW talk station with ads such as 'standing up for what's right', 'tired of being inundated by the liberal media??', etc etc

for some time there has been a local host in the morning; there is now also a local host in the afternoon

both hosts intensely oppose the present republican mayor, although a prominent preacher 'praised God' when he was elected (after several terms of democratic mayors) b/c now 'we can start city council meetings with a prayer'....the morning host constantly pushes a religious right agenda; for example, he called on his listeners to push and if necessary shame their churches into sponsoring bus loads of people going to the legislature to demonstrate for an anti-gay marriage bill

2 republican candidates ran on platforms the hosts agree with; possibly b/c the opposition vote was split, the incumbant won the republican party's nomination for a new term

so now the point of the post/question: both hosts were encouraging callers to express their dismay at the results Wed and today......and the afternoon host was 'enjoying' the fact that neither 'opposition' candidate showed up for what the radio host termed a 'hasty meeting called by the party elite to get every republican behind the mayor'...(of course, democrats and the democratic party are completely neglible in their view)

....I get the strong impression that these 2 hosts, and the station they work for, want to totally control the city's republican party and make very sure that it is dominated by a religious right group that takes their marching orders from the hosts/station

I know Rush and the gang have been doing this on a national level for years........I don't ever remember local talk show hosts and their station so clearly wanting to control the politics of one city
