Does anyone have a link to a good earthquake forum? I've just been checking this site every day or so for about a year. I want to find out if what I'm seeing is abnormal, or just part of a cycle...

1. You have piqued my interest!
The Andamans and the Kurils are always rattling, I think. But I must admit I am no Seismologist.

6. Augustine in Alaska has been rumbling...
but frankly, compared to the rest of the world, North America has been pretty quiet.

I figure if anybody knows about a one-stop-learn-all site about earthquakes, it would be a DU'er :)

5. Probably in the Science forum...

I have no clue if that is in the range of "normal" activity or not. Try posting it there - maybe some science buffs would have something to say.

Another website that would probably write about this if it was abnormal would be:
Urban Survival

They talk about how everything that goes on in this world might impact economics. Everything from earthquakes to war, from politics to solar activity. Pretty interesting site - a little paranoid some times, but some times a little paranoia is a good thing!

13. No more than usual, though.
Let me know if harmonic quakes start up in that region. Then I'll get the ladder set up so I can shovel ash off my roof three times a day.

9. There are forums on Jim Berkland's website
He is a geologist famous for predicting earthquakes based on the number of ads for lost pets in the lost+found section of the newspaper.

15. thanks for the apology
If there was an unusual number of earthquakes, somebody on that forum would've noticed it by now. And if you've been watching the earthquake lists every day for a year, that's probably a forum you belong in.

If you were a scientist, you would've been able to determine whether that was an unusual number of earthquakes very easily. Heck, even most non-scientists know how to google "earthquake statistics".

20. looks like
fairly standard plate boundary interaction to me. i'm a geologist, not a seismologist, so take that for what it's worth. lots of small quakes beat the heck out of all of that strain building up into one large one.

Lots of little ones are much better than one big one. :)

The Andaman Islands are so active, I had to look it up.

They appear to be aftershocks from the Tsunami.
That could explain why that part of the world has been so active.

"There is nothing to be worried about and the earthquake was an aftershock of the tsunami that swept the islands Dec 26, 2004," said A.K. Shukla, a seismologist at the IMD.

And will respond again if they feel it necessary.

You might wish to just scroll down the page to view the images of the Medicine Wheel.

http://www.chiron-communications.com/communique%209-2.html

"While dwelling amid the high mountains along the North American Continental Divide, Bennie LeBeau of the Eastern Shoshone tribe experienced a torrent of dreams and visions, especially in 1999. The visions directed him to set in motion the plans for a massive Medicine Wheel Ceremony.

"Over the last year (2003-2004) Bennie has become aware of many sharply distressing changes in both land and animals at Yellowstone National Park in Wyoming. These changes are becoming even more ominous right now, he says, and they have prodded him into direct action to bring his visions alive.
