Harold Ford in the crosshairs; Elizabeth Dole leads the charge
Edited on Fri Mar-10-06 12:22 PM by CatWoman
Elizabeth Dole is a racist
Posted by Jesse on March 10, 2006

Check out FancyFord.com, a racist attack site created by the National Republican Senatorial Committee to oppose Rep. Harold Ford, Jr., who’s running for Senate in Tennessee.

What’s the message behind this site? The line of white women on the front page, the fact that it highlights his attendance at NBA All Star events featuring Biz Markie, the emphasis on opulence all combine to portray Ford as a pimp. The site tries to be subtle in its racism, but it fails.

Elizabeth Dole is the chair of the NRSC. If this is the kind of trash she’s pushing in her tenure, then she should be forced out of the Senate. It’s disgusting.

Mrs. Dole needs to address that.

7. Don't beat me up for this -- but they sorta have a point

This is not to let the Republicans off the hook. It is total hypocricy for them to be criticizing anyone for lavish fund raisers and ostentatious lifestyles.

But it is the Republican ethic. Democrats are not supposed to be that way.

That is one of the bigger underlying problems with our political system today, and with the Demnocratic Party. Democratic leaders too often join the same clubs and hobnob in the same elite circles and get sucked into the same stratosphericly expensive lifestyle as their GOP counterparts.

They enter a life of privilege while in politics. And too often Democratic leaders slip from politics into the world of $50,000 speaking fees, plush lobbying and corporate jobs and lucrative careers as media pundits.

No matter how good you start out, or how well intentioned, your perceptions get warped when you jump on that luxury train.

It's hard for people who drop $150 for lunch at a fancy restaurants regularly to emphasize with a family trying to balance whether to pay the mortage, the heating bill or food every month. It's difficult to appreciate the dangers of corporate power, when you are relaxing with the same corporate titans at fancy resorts.

10. Now Armstead
you know how much I like beating you up!!!

:hi:

While you make an excellent point(s), we must accept the reality that power does have its perks.

I'm not condoning it.

11. I think we should demand better
Edited on Fri Mar-10-06 12:40 PM by Armstead
Sorry but this kind of thing has long been a bug up my butt.

Perks is one thing. Losing your soul is another.

That perception and reality is one of the reasons Democrats have lost their identity and are seen as out of touch. It's why average peope look at them nd say "They're all the same."

I hate seeing what's happened to guys like Carville, who go from being populists to joining the Beltway Elite and sharing jokes while out at expensive restaurants with Timmy Russert and the same corporate oligarchs he used to bash. Hell, he even married one of them and I'm sure their social life is not based on cookouts with the "little people."

It defuses the Democrats ability and willingness to stand their ground on principles and policies too. Hanging out with the likes of Robert Rubin is why the Clintons have paid more attention to the corporate economic theories of the ruling class than to the experiences and ides of real people at the grass roots.

(I realize that folks like Teddy Kennedy are up there too. But Kennedy has dedicated his life to raising everyone else up through uncompromising liberalism, and has stuck his neck out many times to fight against the interests of his own class.)

12. Ford is a DINO asshole.
He kisses up to Bush on a regular basis and gleefully voted for the illegal war.

He's the son of a political dynasty like Bush, and it's true that he doesn't get regular people at all.

He gives me the creeps. Hopefully the smear attack will prompt a clean democrat to step up and run against him.

Edited on Fri Mar-10-06 01:13 PM by FreedomAngel82
Check out Rosalind Kurita at http://www.kurita2006.com (Or just google her name) She is a DLC member but she's a good bit better than Ford. She isn't getting much press like Ford is. I'm not sure how she's doing on the ground though. All the big polls leave her out of course. :eyes:

9. Elizabeth is trying beat Karl Rove in the "most sleaziest tactics"
contest.

I thought her very strange and authoritative survey to Republicans that came to light this week was the low point. Guess not.
