Incredible - Rumsfeld: Let the Iraqis handle a civil war

That basically seems to be his attitude - if a civil war happens, fuck it - let the Iraqis take care of it, we'll try to help them out.

WASHINGTON (AP) -- If Iraq were to plunge into all-out civil war the U.S. military would depend on Iraq's own security forces to deal with it "to the extent they are able to," Defense Secretary Donald H. Rumsfeld said Thursday....

"The plan is to prevent a civil war, and to the extent one were to occur, to have the -- from a security standpoint -- have the Iraqi security forces deal with it, to the extent they are able to," Rumsfeld said.

Oh, aint that just lovely? Sorry about the mess, boys, y'all take care of it now, okay?

1. You're missing the double-speak

It's already been established that there's not a single batallion of Iraqi forces that is deemed capable of fighting without US assistance.

So in other words, he's not saying anything different.
