Is Bush's Vocabulary Permanently on "Auto-Shuffle"?

Forgive me for being such an elitist, but are this yokel and his speechwriters to be taken seriously by anyone? I admit I'm a bit transfixed at repitition, manipulated in a way that sounds like meaningless music, but I set about tonight collecting phrases he seems overly fond of from his myriad speeches until I could take no more:

"grave national security concern,"
"work with others"
"solve these issues diplomatically""
"strongly disagree"
"we have hard work ahead of us, and we're going to do it"
"stand on what you believe"

"I firmly believe"

Apply this to Katrina, the economy, the war in Iraq, 9-11, the Dubai ports deal, to every SINGLE issue he's confronted nationally with a written speech, and you can mix and match these so-called sentiments til you get as nauseated as I am now.

I thought his speech was controlled by Karl Rove pulling a string in the middle of his back. :rofl:

it sounds reasonably coherent when you read it. Without *'s moronic delivery, it loses most of its puke factor.

I was imagining the drooling delivery in too clear detail. Also, the way Bush sticks to a word like a three year-old and in one speech, will repeat this word when asked questions afterward.

Hence, the drinking games! :D

The platitudes listed are banal and meaningless. But you have to have some brainwave frequency to realize that. His supporters don't. Still I can't believe that they are clued in by his "delivery". I can still remember hearing him speak for the first time on CNN, slackjawed, and wondering how or why the "reporter" wasn't falling down laughing.

y'know, as a collection of phrases, they are useful for a politician--if used judiciously.

But we're talking about GWB here, which instead makes your play-list in the OP into inappropriate tools in the hands of a child. Whether he's working with the back-mounted-receiver and earphone, reading or--more tellingly--winging it, his attempts at speech are appalling for a leader (or even for an amateur politician.)

I cannot stand it...he insults us this way. His teachers and mentors must be either proud of turning this retard ne'er-do-well into something or they are deeply ashamed.

I believe he throws that one in when he's stalling for time, or when he just can't think of an appropriate word. He said that 9/11 was "an interesting day" -- possibly he had run out of adequate descriptors, and/or was so detached that he was unable to come up with anything empathetic without turning to his speechwriters. This is the guy who claimed that his first thought was a snide joke ("there's one terrible pilot"), rather than the reaction which I suspect most of us had ("Omigod! Those poor people! Did they manage to save anybody?").
