Jackson also allowed an insurance policy covering his workers to lapse in January, prompting a $169,000 (£98,000) fine and a raid this week by officers of the state's department of labour, with a court order effectively locking out employees and halting all work at the ranch.

Jackson, who has not commented on the closure, has been given until next Tuesday to pay the fine and back wages of more than $306,000 (£177,500), or face legal action..."
