1. I've always loved old photos, especially
of people I don't know. They start my imagination revving.
Thanks for the link. :)

4. Didn't take 'em.... just found a link to them at a weblog... thought
some might like to reminisce (sp) about simpler times with less terrah terrah boogah boogah and more I can't wait until Johnny gets home from college for the holidays.... hula hoops, silly putty, play dough, erector sets, operation, clue, batman costumes and train sets.... not to mention the one and only banana bikes.... oh and Hodaka motorcycles and Benelli minicycles.... them there were the days indeed.

5. Try : : : Lincoln Logs, TinkerToys, Lionel trains, Erector sets, stilts,
clamp-on rollerskates (metal wheels, wheelbase like a car, you wore the "key" on a string around your neck), Kewpie dolls, sea-monkeys, hop-scotch, jacks, jump-rope, marbles, Betsey-Wetsey dolls, mumbledy-peg (played with a jack-knife), Chutes-and-Ladders, checkers, raking leaves into "walls" of elaborate dwellings on the huge lawns and (for the rich boys) Red Ryder b-b guns.

7. I found my old skate key
when I was packing up and preparing to move a few years ago.

I kept it for the memories. (Didja ever skate on a slate sidewalk? Smoooooooth!)

9. There was a section of about five squares of satin-smooth concrete
Edited on Sat Mar-11-06 12:54 PM by Idealist Hippie
and I would go back and forth over it. Most of the sidewalks in my neighborhood rattled your teeth, and the ragged sections heaved up by tree roots reached up to grab the wheels.

Between stilts and roller skates, I was bruised and scabbed all summer.....

Edit: I flipped through a very upscale catalog the other day, and you can buy a skate key on a chain as a necklace!!! For an outrageous amount of money, of course.

I remember when "under God" was added to the pledge -- it still surprises me that some people seem to think it was put there by Moses.....
