Daschle Considering '08 Presidential Bid

ABERDEEN, S.D. - Former Senate Democratic leader Tom Daschle, accusing the GOP of spreading a message of fear, says he is considering a 2008 presidential bid.

"I haven't ruled anything out or anything in at this point," Daschle said in an interview Saturday night after a hometown dinner in his honor.

"I'm encouraged by the strong support many people have voiced for my candidacy around the country and in South Dakota. I'll make a decision at some point later on this year," he said.

Daschle said President Bush and Republicans have overemphasized the importance of the war on terror, and he said the U.S. is no safer now than it was before the Iraq invasion.<snip>

It sounds like Daschle is seriously considering a run. I was wondering why he was making the TV rounds a few weels ago.. Now I know.

if I were him i'd be keeping a much lower profile right now. He is still incredibly timid and refuses to condemn the Bush Administration as strongly as Pat Buchanan does, and that's fucking sad because Tom Daschle and Bush should disagree much more and vehemently so than Pat Buchanan and Bush.

he still hasn't stopped being an asshole. Tom Daschle was timid even before he got the letters. If he had any balls whatsoever, he would have stood up and challenged the bullshit which led to Gore having his election stolen from him.

I wouldn't vote for Tom Daschle unless the Republicans nominated either George "California Confederate" Allen or Bill "Leave No Stray Alive" Frist. Gore right now is the best option unless there's a Democratic governor who's antiwar and anti-NAFTA.
