The real reason we invaded Iraq...
>snip

"As we gain distance on the Iraq and Afghanistan wars, America's waning enthusiasm for nation-building only strengthens the impression that the neocons were naive idealists manipulated to window-dress a much simpler and more brutal post-9/11 imperative: Afghanistan and Iraq offered opportunities for revenge and for spectacles of US power designed to assuage the wounded pride of the American people. The wars have not made the world a safer or better place because that was not their aim."

Not oil, not for democracy. Misdirected revenge - pure and simple

1. That's even worse. Billions thrown away, lives destroyed, ill will...
all this for revenge??

Perhaps Bush is sicker than I thought.

4. I think they wanted to create chaos that will last as long as possible
they thrive financially in a chaotic environment.

I think Iraq, especially, has become far more volatile than they expected

Their aim in Iraq was, in large part, to take Iraq's oil offline (effectively) reducing world supply and jacking profits for king george's Saudi and Kuwaiti buddies.

Then, later, they can (they thought) restore "order" and bring Iraq's oil back online. By then, it would be firmly under the control of king george's oil bidniz buddies (or their puppets), and it would be king george's (Unka Dick's) turn to rake in the dough.

5. The world has got the picture of men in action...
Their make-believe fantasies are a world away from the garrison democracy increasingly suborned by the warlords they've installed in Iraq and Afghanistan. Bush's "free society" and Blair's democracy is, in reality, the most efficient narco-economy in the world. As you read, the new shoots of opium poppies are being nurtured by the spring sunshine over 320,000 acres, promising a bumper crop. Ninety per cent of Europe's heroin now comes from Afghanistan. These two world leaders have so prostituted words such as democracy and freedom that they have lost all meaning.

The Hague is waiting for those that must meet their destiny...
