Sen. Conrad: Over history of U.S., took Bush to DOUBLE foreign-held debt
Sen. Kent Conrad (D-ND), budget committee ranking member, speaking on the Senate floor just now on the FY 2007 budget:

It took 42 presidents and 224 years to run up a trillion dollars in debt held by foreign interests.
It has taken only 5 years of the Bush administration to DOUBLE IT.

"Mr. President, this debt is out of control."
